ODAC Conference celebrated its 23rd annual meeting this past January in Orlando,
Florida, with a healthy representation from the GW SMHS Department of Dermatology.
This long-standing and impactful conference has for some time now been a key
pathway for both GW residents and faculty to demonstrate our educational excellence
and prowess. This year, multiple GW faculty participated in live general sessions, panel
discussions, as well as unique programming designed for resident and early-career
dermatologists. These faculty members include:
Adam Friedman – Event co-chair; presented on a wide array of topics including “Off-Label Offerings in Medical and Aesthetic Dermatology”, “Medical Dermatology for the Boards”, “Diagnosis & Management of Hair Disorders”, and “Building Bridges: Purposeful Networking, Collaboration, and Career Growth with Industry Relationships”
Vishal Patel – Event co-chair; presentation topics included “Surgical Dermatology for the Boards”, “Hedgehog Inhibitors in the Age of Immunotherapy”, and “Controversies in Gene Expression Profiling”
Pooja Sodha – “Postinflammatory Hyper- and Hypopigmentation: Differential Diagnosis and Practical Treatment Approaches”
Yasmine Kirkorian – “Hack the JAKs: Pragmatic Pearls for Pediatric Patients”, “Pediatric Dermatology for the Boards”, and “Lumps and Bumps: Scary Surprises in Small Packages”
Emily Murphy – “Career Paths in Dermatology: Academics, Private Practice, and Beyond!”
Misty Eleryan –“Career Paths in Dermatology: Academics, Private Practice, and Beyond!” and “Getting Your Surgical Skills to the Next Level”
Terrence Keaney – Topics included “What's New in Neurotoxins: From Type E to Liquid Toxins” and “Androgenetic Alopecia: Beyond the Medicine Cabinet - Light Therapy, Regenerative Treatments, and Surgical Hair Restoration”
An important addition to ODAC 2025 was the Race to the Case Challenge that was disseminated to all attendees, which in fact was GW resident homegrown, derived from our resident-run Dermatology In-Review: Case of the Monthcollection. One of several national board review programs produced by GW faculty and residents, this ongoing monthly initiative has been a long time derm-community favorite as well as a unique opportunity for our residents to build their CVs during training. If you haven’t had the opportunity to check them out, please do so and take the challenge.
