STEM Cloverbud Camp

Wednesday, July 31, was our second Cloverbud Day Camp-themed STEM. After everyone arrived in the morning, the youth played some names games to get to know each other. The first activity of the day was making paper airplanes and helicopters. After that youth built egg drop contraptions in partnership to hold and protect an egg when dropped from a high space. The youth then dropped their eggs outside, and three eggs survived! After lunch, it was time for some fun STEM challenges! Youth played Save FRED where they had to use teamwork and problem-solving skills to save a gummy worm from drowning by putting a lifesaver vest on him only using paper clips! Next, they did a toothpick and marshmallow challenge where they had to build a tower only using 10 toothpicks and 20 marshmallows. After the challenges, the youth split into three groups and rotated through different STEM stations. The stations were exploding volcanoes, magical milk colors, and oobleck! The youth then made homemade bubbles and blew them outside! One of the last activities of the day was shooting off film canister rockets. To finish the day, the youth made ice cream in bags for a snack! All the kids had fun, and it was a great day! Congratulations to Eleanor G on being selected as Camper of the Week! She helped her peers, held doors open, was a leader, and always had a positive attitude! Check the Fond du Lac County 4-H Facebook page for pictures!

Adult Leaders Meeting, Fair Forum, & Raffle Ticket Drawing - August 21 at 6:30 pm

All parents, adult, and youth leaders, whether you are a project, club, special event, or county leader are invited on August 21 for the Adult Leader’s Association Meeting. Before this meeting, at 6:30 pm, there will be an open conversation on county fair ideas. A fair board rep will be present to hear your feedback on the strengths of the fair and suggestions for changes. After the fair suggestions, the Adult Leaders Meeting will follow. Both meetings will take place at Extension Fond du Lac County, room AE-205/206. The Adult Leader’s Association meets 3 times per year – March, August, and October. This is your opportunity to hear, learn, share, and have input. Mark your calendar for August 21. All clubs are encouraged to have a representative present.
