Cav Nation is blessed to welcome Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, world renowned and distinguished Vatican official and United Nations diplomat to campus. As a permanent observer to the Holy See, Archbishop Caccia has the right to participate in the general debate of the UN General Assembly, intervene in discussions, circulate proposals and position papers, and co-sponsor draft resolutions and decisions. Business Club Luncheon, Friday, April 5 |
The 53rd Business Club Scholarship Luncheon on April 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. will feature keynote speaker Mike Wheeler, President, and Chief Legal Officer at Patriot Software. Admission is $35 for employees and students can use a meal swipe or pay $8. Join us as Wheeler explores the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence and its pivotal role in modern business, while also sharing invaluable industry insights and personal anecdotes about his journey from the mailroom to the boardroom. Solar Eclipse Fest on Academic Quad Monday, April 8, 2 – 4 p.m. |

Cav Nation will be hosting Solar Eclipse Fest on April 8 from 2 to 4 p.m., on the Quad next to the Toot Global Learning Center. Rain or shine! Classes will be cancelled, and university offices will close from 2:30–4 p.m. so that employees and students can attend and witness this historic celestial event. The Milk & Honey Food Truck will be on hand. Sunny 101.7 will be broadcasting live with prizes and giveaways. Solar glasses available. The Department of Math and Sciences will have demonstrations and science trivia, and a livestream broadcast of the eclipse! This free and unforgettable community celebration offers a unique experience for all ages! T-shirts are on sale now. Those interested in purchasing a Solar Eclipse T-shirt for $12 may stop by the Math and Science Department or see Dr. Neil Walsh. (Rain location GLC Atrium)

Walsh University signed the City of North Canton last week as the first member of the Partners Program. The initiative offers the employees of area businesses and organizations opportunities for Walsh University degrees or certificates at discounted tuition rates among other benefits and perks. The program aims to empower employees and enhance their skills. Additionally, the North Canton partnership includes hosting city council meetings at Walsh, internship programs, and staff participation in academic lectures. Read More

Walsh University’s Cybersecurity Summit United Industry Leaders and Aspiring Innovators |
The recent Cybersecurity Summit, held over two days at Walsh University, brought together a dynamic cohort of 150 IT professionals, representatives from 20 regional schools, and 35 CEOs and CIOs from the board of our esteemed partners, Information Security Summit (ISS), the largest cybersecurity network in Northeast Ohio. Organized in collaboration with Pelican3 and ISS, the summit offered attendees a workshop-style format, enabling them to earn Continuing Education Credits and leave with actionable solutions.
Participants engaged in sessions covering crucial topics such as the NIST Cyber Defense Matrix Framework, Written Information Security Program/System Security Plan, IT asset identification, threat and risk register creation, control mapping, incident response, and access to cyber resources. With its focus on practical strategies and collaborative learning, the summit provided invaluable insights for safeguarding against cyber threats in an increasingly digital world.
In addition, Walsh University welcomed 200 high school students over two days for an immersive workshop focused on frontier technologies and their impact on future careers. Participants gained insights into cybersecurity, AI (Artificial Intelligence), data analytics, and emerging technology-based career paths while engaging in discussions about current trends and events in the field. They also had the opportunity to evaluate their individual aptitude for careers in frontier technologies and network with industry leaders, business professionals, and potential future employers.

International Dinner and Cultural Festival |
Last weekend, Walsh University’s World Student Organization hosted the International Dinner and Cultural Festival, an annual event showcasing the diverse heritage of our international students. Attendees enjoyed a buffet-style feast featuring culinary delights from Bolivia, Brazil, Ghana, Japan, Nepal, the UK, and more, prepared by the talented students themselves. The evening was further enriched with a captivating performance by the Saakumu Dance Troupe from Ghana, alongside performances by our international students, making it an unforgettable celebration of global flavors and vibrant cultures. Walsh University wants to ensure that Cav Nation is mindful of how students with autism spectrum disorder experience social relationships and interactions differently than our peers. To that end, we continue the university-wide autism awareness series with Haruki Ilmanishi, a student who shares how he has developed life skills during his time at Walsh.

This initiative offers intentional opportunities for engagement and celebration of our first-generation students. Dr. Britt Cooper, Coordinator of Visual and Performing Arts, traveled to North Carolina to conduct the 16th annual High School Honor Choir at UNC-Pembroke. Students from a dozen high schools in eastern North Carolina participated in the choir along with college students from the university. He led six hours of rehearsals and a workshop for high school directors culminating in a performance Saturday evening.
Dr. Ute Lahaie, Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment/Director of the Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment (CAPE) earned her certificate as HLS Peer Reviewer on March 4 after completing a three-part training offered by the Higher Learning Commission.

In collaboration with the Leadership Institute, the Walsh University College Republicans hosted a workshop on building team of leaders, students who are interested in politics, and students looking to build up their resumes for a future career in leadership. The event featured Walsh University alum Hannah Petersen and Tim Cleveland, the election coordinator at the Leadership Institute.

Cavs for Life has been bustling with activity lately, engaging our campus community in meaningful ways! From celebrating St. Joseph, patron of the unborn and defender of life, with a Pierogi Party to Cavs for Life Baby Item Drive, they have been making a tangible impact. Thanks to your generosity, they were able to deliver essential items to Pregnancy Solutions, Alliance Pregnancy Center, and The Pregnancy and Parenting Center this past week. Your support and involvement in these initiatives make a real difference in the lives of others. Let’s continue spreading love, compassion, and support within our campus community!
