A Message From Tricia Chastain

Dear Colleagues,
Since joining the Georgia Tech community 6 weeks ago, I have already gained a deep appreciation for the collaboration and coordination among A&F departments and with your colleagues across the Institute. In that short time, I’ve had the chance to meet many of you and see firsthand the pride, care, and attention you bring to our campus community.
While I am certain these observations only scratch the surface, I want to share a few examples of how I have witnessed team members go “above and beyond” to serve our campus community.

-
Infrastructure and Sustainability’s (I&S) landscape team keeps our 400+ acre campus immaculate and welcoming. Maintaining beautiful campus grounds is a key ingredient to making a great first impression on our incoming students and families who are visiting this summer for orientation.
-
I attended the Georgia Tech Police Department’s (GTPD) monthly crime management meeting and was impressed by how GTPD truly works as a team to understand our evolving community dynamics, on-campus and the surrounding areas, and deploys data-driven strategies to keep our campus community safe.
-
Finance and Planning has partnered with departments across campus on scenario planning to help us prepare for potential federal funding shifts. They’ve also been working hard to ensure a smooth year-end closeout and clear expense report backlogs. The Travel Team processed nearly 1,800 expense reports this month – helping students, faculty, and staff receive their reimbursements in a timely manner.
-
Lastly, a big thank you to Georgia Tech Human Resources and I&S for working with supervisors and campus leaders as we prepare for the transition to in-person work. It may seem quiet, but there’s plenty happening behind the scenes — from reviewing telework arrangement requests to addressing workspace needs and evaluating parking capacity.
|
Your dedication and teamwork are visible in every corner of this campus, even when the work happens quietly. Thank you for all you do to keep Georgia Tech moving forward.
Sincerely,
|
Tricia Chastain
