First Annual Black Pre-Health Conference
Brought to you by The Black Girl Pre-Health Collective. This event aims to empower and equip aspiring healthcare professionals. It's designed to address the unique challenges faced by Black students on their journey to becoming healthcare leaders. During the conference there will be a keynote speaker, two healthcare panels (professionals and graduate students), and breakout sessions to allow attendees to explore various healthcare fields and get advice on how to succeed.

The GW Office of Student Outreach and Support (SOS) is currently hiring for THREE different paid FWS student staff positions for Fall 2025.
SOS Front Desk Assistant
First point of contact for visitors to the SOS office, including greeting visitors, responding to inquiries, and assisting with other office tasks.
6-10 hours per week
The Store Manager
Support daily operations in the Store, GW's food pantry, by helping to meet and greet shoppers, enforce pantry policy, check shoppers in and out, receive and report shopper feedback, ensure cleanliness, restock items, and perform daily health and safety inspections.
8-10 hours per week
Wellbeing Coordinator
Lead targeted and specific health promotion programming and content creation on a variety of different health topics, including sexual health, substance use, mental health, and general wellbeing

Responsibilities:
Facilitating the daily flow of patients in the clinic, including rooming patients, recording vitals, collecting a brief history, and updating the patient’s chart.

Responding to electronic/phone patient questions and medication refill requests.
Working with in-house phlebotomist and performing phlebotomy as-needed.

Ensuring compliance with practice policies, HIPAA, and OSHA standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree with premedical coursework, including anatomy and medical terminology.

Experience processing lab samples, performing phlebotomy, administering injections preferred, but not required.
Basic computer knowledge, experience with electronic medical records preferred but not required.
Interest in women’s health.

Start Date: April 2025.
Duties:
-Bringing patients to the rooms, collecting medical information, and preparing them for examination.
-Scribing the visit using our electronic medical record.
-Assisting with office procedures: Biopsies, injections, excisions, cosmetic procedures and others.
-Collecting and routing laboratory specimens.
-Keeping supplies ready by placing orders and verifying receipts.
-Cleaning, sterilizing and preparing instruments per protocol.
-Securing patient information and maintaining patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records.
-Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
-Adhering to professional standards, office policies and procedures.
-Using computer applications.
-Helping patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
-Filling out insurance forms and prior authorizations.
-Relaying patient instructions as directed by the physician.
-Transmitting prescriptions as directed.
-Removing sutures and changing dressings.
-Checking voicemails, phone calls, and emails throughout the day. All must be taken care of and updated in the electronic medical record by the end of shift.
-Other duties as assigned
*Salary is based on experience, starting at $19/hour if the candidate has minimal prior experience.
*Prior experience is prefered.
*Minimum 1 year commitment is required.
