IV First Friday

Recreation is taking over Isla Vista First Friday! Join us for a night of fun in the heart of IV. Roast some s'mores with your friends, test yourself with fitness challenges, climb the Adventure Programs Mobile Climbing Wall or watch an Aerial Silks demo, and dance the night away! There will be free food, giveaways, and various activities including Glow In the Dark painting by Life of the Party! See what Recreation has to offer in a lively, festival setting. This is an event you won't want to miss!

12th Annual Top Rope Climbing Competition
May 4 | 10-2:30pm | Adventure Climbing Center
The 12th Annual Top Rope Climbing Competition is here! UCSB Adventure Programs Annual Top Rope Competition is open to all students, faculty, staff and community members with multiple levels of climbing ability. The competition will feature staff belayers, a warm-up area, food, and awesome raffle prizes for competitors and the winners in each bracket! If you don't want to climb, come just to watch at no charge!

UC Walks

Join staff & faculty for this UC wide walking event, as we take a break and walk for good health! The 10th Annual UC Walks will start with light stretching led by a nationally certified personal trainer from the Recreation Department, followed by a 30-40 minute walk around UCSB’s beautiful campus. Grab your walking shoes and walk with the University of California!

No registration needed! Simply arrive between 12-12:10 to sign in.

IM Gaucho Cup
May 18 | 11am-3pm | Rec Cen Turf Fields
Come out to Recreation's 2nd Annual Intramural Gaucho Cup! No need to be a pro. All skill levels welcome to play in our 4v4 short sided tournament, participate in skills competitions and games, hang out, snack, and more! $10 per team, contests are free.

Adventure Programs' Upcoming Trips

Gaucho REC Sailing
May 18 - June 8, Saturdays | 12-3pm | Santa Barbara Harbor
Set sail this spring! Sailors will learn the basics of rigging and sailing a boat including parts of the boat, points of sail, steering, tacking, gybing, weight placement and body movement, sail trim and sail control, and basic boat handling skills. Classes will be taught in RS Quest sailboats with 2-3 students per boat. Participants should be able to swim and are required to wear life jackets during the course. Register online or at our Customer Service Center.

Youth Swim Lessons
Our swim lesson program follows the American Red Cross progressive swimming level model which ensure swimmers gain valuable skills for confidence in the water. Group lessons are age and level dependent. We offer private and small group lessons. All of our swim instructors are American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certified. Register online or at our Customer Service Center.
