Message from the President - April 2017
New York Philharmonic coming to SBCC in July - Tickets on Sale Saturday, May 13
As many of you know, we are thrilled to be partnering with the Music Academy of the West, City of Santa Barbara and our SBCC Foundation to bring the New York Philharmonic to SBCC's La Playa Stadium on Monday, July 31, 2017. 
Tickets to the event will go on sale Saturday, May 13. Please visit the Music Academy of the West website for more information. General admission tickets are $10 and children aged seven-17 receive a free general admission ticket when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Please see this newsletter for an event flyer. We hope to see you there!

Sally Saenger Receives Hayward Award - 10th SBCC Awardee
Sally Saenger has been named a recipient of the prestigious Hayward Award. The Hayward Award is an annual recognition honoring four community college faculty members statewide who have a track record of excellence both in teaching and in professional activities and have demonstrated commitment to their students, profession, and college. SBCC Student Awarded National Engineers Week Scholarship
Aerospace Engineering student Jeffrey Sorenson was recently awarded the E-Week Scholarship for Engineering, one of 10 college students in the combined counties of Santa Barbara and Ventura to receive the award. Read More...

Trustee Abboud represents SBCC in DC as new legislative liaison (The Channels) 
Abboud attended the “Community College National Legislative Summit,” and arrived back to City College to enlighten The Board of Trustees with guidance to enhance students’ education. Read More...
The Theatre Group at SBCC Presents "Rabbit Hole" 
The Theatre Group at SBCC will present Rabbit Hole, David Lindsay-Abaire’s 2007 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, as the final play in the Theatre Group's 2016-17 season. Performances will be April 12-29 in the Jurkowitz Theatre on SBCC’s West Campus, 900 block of Cliff Drive. For more information click here

SBCC Board of Trustees Meeting — April 27 and May 11
The SBCC Board of Trustees will meet on April 27 and May 11 at 4:00 p.m. in A-211 at SBCC. The Agenda for the meeting can be found at least 72 hours prior to the meeting on the Board webpage. All of the SBCC Board meetings are live streamed and archived for public viewing. Click here to watch previous or live Board meetings.
SBCC Selected to participate in the California Guided Pathways Project
Santa Barbara City College has been selected to participate in the California Guided Pathways Project. SBCC was selected through a competitive process, along with nineteen other schools. The project will help California Community Colleges implement an integrated, institution-wide approach to student success by creating structured educational experiences that support each student from beginning to end.
