Romans 12:20-21
On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
    if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
New International Version (NIV)
                I love the story of the older gentleman who said, "I am over 90 years old and I do not have an enemy in the world."  A friend marveled until he said, "I have outlived every one of them."  Do you ever savor the possibility of revenge?  If you had your enemy right in the palm of your hand, what would you do?

                David had the chance to settle the score with King Saul more than once, but refused to.  Jesus washed the feet of the disciples who would abandon him.  He broke bread with Judas who would betray him and Peter who would deny him that very night.    When they crucified him, Jesus prayed for his persecutors, "Father forgive them . . ."

               Evil is not overcome by evil, but it may be overcome by good.  Paul seems to think that you and I can live the way Jesus lived.  How is that possible?  Jesus who forgave his enemies lives in us.  We may not outlive our enemies.  What if we outloved them?

 Pray with me:
Father, we thank you for loving us while we were still sinners.  Help us to put your love into practice today.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
