"Bridgeport Tackles Potholes, Illegal Dumping"
– CT Post (blog)

The Pothole Killer repairs a pothole in the North End during a Neighborhood Fridays event.
As part of Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch’s continued efforts to make the Park City neighborhoods cleaner, earlier this year the city kicked off a new initiative called “Neighborhood Fridays,” which is an aggressive clean-up effort targeting a different neighborhood every week. It involves public facilities crews and other city departments working hard and together to pick up trash, fix potholes, re-paint street lines, and repair damaged signs.
“We’re making Bridgeport a better place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch. “Our Neighborhood Fridays clean-up program is a great example,” said Mayor Finch. “Kudos to the City’s Public Facilities Department for their incredible work.”
Results from the Neighborhood Fridays Program alone include:
  • 174,020 pounds of illegal dumping removed.
  • 1,156 total potholes fixed,
  • 492 miles of road swept.
  • 256 total street signs repaired.

“Nearly 20 Bridgeport-area Entrepreneurs Participate in Startup Roadshow” – CT Post (blog)
The Whiteboard – an online magazine that supports Connecticut businesses – teamed up with the B:Hive Bridgeport to host a Startup Roadshow in Downtown Bridgeport.
The Startup Roadshow was a networking event brought together nearly 20 startup businesses based in Bridgeport and surrounding towns.
Many of the business owners who participated in Tuesday's event were also a part of a roundtable discussion Mayor Bill Finch hosted in May with some of the Park City’s young entrepreneurs. Click here to read the Connecticut Post’s coverage of that event.
“Bridgeport’s downtown is being revitalized and bringing with it new businesses, jobs, and residents,” said Mayor Finch prior to that event. “The small business owners play an important role in downtown’s growth. That’s why it is critical that we continue to have a dialogue with the business leaders, small business owners and entrepreneurs to ensure that we are providing them with the resources available to succeed and grow in Bridgeport.”
According to a recent blog post by The Whiteboard, there are 400+ startups in the Bridgeport area.
