"In Bridgeport, Green Energy Park is a Win for Our Kids and Families"– CT News Junkie
The Connecticut Siting Council, stakeholders, and residents tour the proposed site of the Green Energy Park on Thursday.
Mayor Bill Finch authored an Op-Ed for the website CT News Junkie regarding the Green Energy Park.
This project simply makes sense –  for our future, for our environment, for our economy, for our taxpayers and, most importantly, for our children.
This project will reduce our carbon footprint and make the air cleaner to breathe in the state’s largest city. In Hartford, in New Haven and in Bridgeport, the asthma for our kids is three times the state average. This is a chance to do something meaningful that will help future generations breathe easier.
Also, in a Hartford Courant letter to the editor, Mayor Finch wrote:
Green Energy Park consists of 9,000 solar panels and a fuel cell being installed at the site of an old landfill. It will power 5,000 homes with virtually pollution-free energy. It will create up to 92 jobs.
"Bridgeport set designer ships to Broadway and beyond" – CT Post
Warren Katz, owner and founder of Global Scenic Services, stands on a stairway that will become part of a stage set for a traveling production of "Annie."
Global Scenic Services is a Bridgeport-based business that designs and builds a wide variety of custom sets for stage productions, movies and television.
The company, which is located on Brookfield Avenue, employs 22 full-time and 35 part-time workers -- everything from laborers to drivers to carpenters to electricians and project managers.
Global Scenic Services' past projects also include the sets of Victoria's Secret, Victoria Beckham and Tommy Hilfiger during Fashion Week in New York City's Bryant Park; window displays for Donna Karan and DKNY and the sets of television shows.
"The state of Connecticut and the city of Bridgeport have been very good to us," said Warren Katz, owner of Global Scenic Services. "They've worked very hard to keep us here and keep people employed."

Mayor Bill Finch and Bridgeport's BGreen 2020 sustainability initiative is featured in the Hartford Business Journal's Connecticut Green Guide.
Among Mayor Finch's efforts highlighted in the Connecticut Green Guide is the Eco-Technology Park a hub for `green' job creation which is home to several new businesses.
Mayor Finch, who also serves as Co-Chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Climate Protection Task Force, also spoke about the largest fuel cell energy park in North America which is located in Bridgeport's West End.
