Titus 1:4
To Titus, my true son in our common faith:
Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

New International Version (NIV)
“How many sons do you have?” asked my friend Pastor Michael Dwyer of Galveston.  Puzzled, I answered, “Two, why?”  He quickly explained he was not asking about Graham and Chase but about my sons in ministry.  He had a pastor who had invested in him like a father, and now he was passing it along.

Paul invested in others often, but he calls Timothy and Titus his sons.  As a father led his children, so Paul lovingly taught and encouraged these young pastors.  He showed confidence in them by putting them in challenging situations.

Think for a moment about the ones who invested in you and loved you.  Give thanks for their kindness.  Now think about others in whom you can invest.  Most everyone is having a hard time in one way or another.  Alex Haley once said, “If you ever see a turtle on a fence post, you know for sure it had some help getting there.”  Thus far, God has helped us through others.  From now on, let us help someone along the way.  How many sons and daughters do you have?  God knows.
Pray with me:
Father, thank you for our parents and also for parents in the faith.  Lord, allow us to live long enough to pass the faith along to others.  Take the grace given us and spread it abroad in the lives of others.  Let us practice random acts of kindness and senseless beauty today.  For Jesus we pray, Amen.
This year our Every Day with Jesus readings will follow The Bible Project Read Scripture Plan.  Copies of this reading plan are available at Tallowood Baptist Church, or download
the app at readscripture.org.  Read through the Bible with us in 2019!
Joyfully,
Duane
