Orientation and Transition Programs is looking for tourguides

Greetings, SAF colleagues!

Are you interested in connecting with new students and families during summer orientation, AND lending a crucial hand to Orientation and Transition Programs?  We'd like to invite you to serve as a volunteer campus tourguide for orientation.  Interested?  Here are the details:

  • Two staff members will facilitate a 1-hour tour on each Day 1 of orientation, from 10:45-11:45am
  • You can sign up for as many tours as you'd like - use the form linked below to register (note that signups are first-come, first-served)
  • No experience required; we'll train you (training session to be scheduled in late May)
  • After your tour, report attendance via our google doc - average attendance is 13-15 people
Please sign up on our Orientation Campus Tour Form and let us know if you have any questions!
Call 513-529-9771 or email orientation@miamioh.edu if you need further info.

Tech Tip of the Week

From Jen O'Brien
TIP: Open an “Incognito Window” for using the web without all the auto logins, saved passwords, browsing history, etc.
WHY: Have you ever tried to check another gmail account (e.g. your entity account or personal email) while logged into your Miami email? Or needed to let someone else login to Facebook or MyMiami or another application on your computer?
Much of the time, Google knowing and anticipating everything you will do is convenient; however, sometimes you need a private browsing mode. Going “incognito” in Google Chrome solves this problem. It’s opening up a window in which Chrome doesn’t know anything about you - and it doesn’t leave cookies on your computer.
HOW? In any Google Chrome window, click on the Chrome Controls in the top right corner of the page and click “New Incognito Window.” Boom. You've gone incognito!

FROM OTHER DEPARTMENTS

Miami University- Department of Purchasing & Central Services
Annual Surplus Auction

Miami University’s Spring Auction of surplus property will be held starting at 9:00am Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Millett Hall.  This is your annual opportunity to seek out and identify materials and equipment assigned to your department which is under-utilized or no longer needed, and to clean out your storage areas, turning this surplus into income for the University. Items need not be in working order, but in fairness to our bidders such items should be clearly marked as “not working” with a short description of the problem.
Surplus items should be reported to Mr. Clarence Blevins, Physical Facilities Department, by memo, no later than June 2, 2016. List the item(s) and their location, and who should be contacted to arrange pickup.  Actual collection of most items will be made by Trucking Services.
In an effort to get surplus information to the Auctioneer for the flyers and newspaper ads that are circulated please contact Dick Pratt at prattra@miamioh.edu as soon as you know what you are placing in the auction.
Anyone having questions on this procedure, or the auction in general should contact Dick Pratt at prattra@miamioh.edu  or at  9-6132.
