While summer may be drawing near, there are still many exciting learning opportunities taking place at St Michael's! - This week was Authors' Day in Kindergarten! A treasured St M tradition promoting early literacy, story structure and creativity, Mrs. Adams' class authored, illustrated and shared their own books on the theme of "When I Grow Up." Ms. Somerville's class authored stories on favorite experiences and adventures. Kudos to all of our young writers!
- Our fourth graders charted a course to travel through time! Through their interactive "Timeline of Discovery," our students shared their learnings about the brave men and women who explored new lands, the unknown depths of the ocean and the far reaches of outer space.
From Eric the Red to Astronaut Mae Jemison, Explorers' Day not only taught social studies, but reinforced research, public speaking and presentation skills.
- In seventh grade life science, our students are trying to determine the level of biodiversity on the Singleton Campus. Leveraging our unique 70-acre campus and marking out 9 to 14 square meter areas, students are researching the plant and animal life within their zones to average the plant and animal life that exists on campus.
- The second edition of this year's new Middle School student newspaper, The STM Beacon, hit newsstands this week showcasing the creativity and writing skills of our student reporters. Our fourth graders are producing their own class newspapers as well!
Be sure to check out our St M Facebook page for more for photos of the week's learning adventures!

| Interested in Soccer at St. Michael's?
The School is exploring the level of interest families might have for a Boys' Middle School soccer team. In order to balance athletic opportunities with Girls' Field Hockey, the boys have an opportunity to field a socccer team this fall. Any girl wishing to participate on the soccer team is welcome to play as well.
While still in the investigatory stage, a soccer program would likely be coached by parent volunteers and practiced on the Singleton Campus Field. Students would be responsible for their own personal equipment - shin guards, cleats, etc. Beginning as early as next fall, practices would be in the mid- to late-afternoon during the week depending on volunteer coaches' schedules.
Please click here to express interest. Thanks!
Note: if you have a fifth grader who would be interested in the program in the future, please submit your information as well.
