It's National Travel & Tourism Week

This week, May 1-7, is National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW). If you haven’t already, check out U.S. Travel’s toolkit to share messages, logos and more via your industry channels.
In celebration of this week and the steady return of travel, we’re excited to share the 2021 Dean Runyan Associates Economic Impact Report Summary This summary includes high level 2021 statewide and regional economic impact estimates. A full report which includes statewide, regional, and county impacts will be shared next week.

    International Flights Return to PDX

    After more than two years of slowed international travel due to the pandemic, travelers are ready to fly again. There’s pent-up demand from consumers looking to travel to U.S. destinations they've been dreaming about during the pandemic. Today, non-stop service from Portland to Europe returns. 
    New flights happening now:
    The following flights are anticipated for 2022: 
    • Condor Frankfurt to begin flights to PDX May 13, three times a week and five times a week in the summer.
    • British Airways service from London to begin June 3. 
    • Delta Air Lines Incheon (new service from Seoul) starting November 5, three times a week with connections throughout Asia.
    • Delta Air Lines Haneda (Tokyo) is anticipated to begin winter of 2022.

      Business Oregon Launches COVID Recovery Grant Program for Live Venue Operators, Producers and Presenters

      Business Oregon is launching a Live Event Venue Operators and Live Event Producer/Presenters Grant Program which will provide up to $35 million in grant assistance to qualifying applicants that have experienced financial hardships as an outcome of public health measures necessitated by the pandemic. This grant program is the second of three phases of grants Business Oregon is creating with new ARPA funds to help live event venues and live event supporting industries.
      Applications opened at 10 a.m. on April 25, at biz.oregon.govAll applications for funding must be received no later than 4:59 p.m. on May 16, 2022. Applicants should refer to the online Application Checklist ​for a detailed description of the elements needed to complete the application.
