Holiday greetings from the Chief
|
As your Chief of Police, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your loved ones for a safe and joyful holiday season. This time of year offers many opportunities for our community to come together, and I look forward to seeing you at upcoming holiday events in Gresham.

To support those in need, the Gresham Police Department is hosting our annual Fill the Cruiser toy drive, collecting gifts for local children. Your generous donations will help make the holidays brighter for children in our community. Learn more about Fill the Cruiser in the event section below.
In this newsletter, we have included important tips for keeping your home and loved ones safe during the holiday season. From securing your home while you’re away to navigating winter weather, we’ve shared practical advice to help ensure your celebrations are both festive and secure.
Enjoy this special time with family and friends and know that we are here to serve and support you year-round.
Warm regards,
Chief Travis Gullberg

Meet Police Records Manager Ami Staples |
Police records is a big job and we're glad to have Ami's 30 years of police record management experience.
What is the role of the records manager? To coordinate and support 15 non-sworn professional staff who cover the department 24-hours, 7-day a week. The team performs specialized duties that require comprehensive knowledge of Oregon law. I assist leadership with daily operations of the department. I am responsible for security clearance coordination with the Oregon State Police, processing report requests, records management, state reporting, responding to inquiries from internal and external customers, and assisting with department projects.
What do you find challenging about the job? Communication with my team because we are a 24/7 operation. The records staff are always on site and field calls for other City departments after hours. I have to be flexible to support the team. The day-to-day needs and questions keep me on my toes.
What is the most rewarding? Playing a part in the community and creating a positive environment given the subject matter we face every day. People come into my office often for support and for things weighing heavily on them. The most rewarding part is the camaraderie that is palatable here.
How do you handle the stress of the job? With a sense of humor! It calms me when I can make others smile and laugh with me. I do yoga, and I like hiking. I can’t leave exercise out of the equation. I focus on what I can control each day and know that some things will have to wait until tomorrow.
What is on your personal bucket list? Travel! I want to visit Iceland, Ireland and more of Spain and Italy.
Since we are in the holiday season, what is a favorite family tradition? Getting together with my huge family. Time is what is most important to me.

| How to make a police report
|
Call or text 911 if there is an immediate threat to life or property. Whenever possible, use a voice call instead of a text message.
- Identify the location of the emergency.
- Try to remain calm so you can answer questions.
- Teach your children how to call 911.
Non-emergency dispatch: 503-823-3333
For situations that are not an immediate threat to life or property. For example, a bike was stolen, or you are having difficulty filling out a police report.
File a non-emergency police report online
My Gresham is an online issue-reporting tool for requesting non-emergency City services, such as fixing a pothole or reporting a broken streetlight. My Gresham is also available as a free mobile app.
