MAMMA MIA HAS BEEN POSTPONED

Dear Cottage Theatre family,

The show will go on . . . . some day.

Given the latest recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), I am sure it will come as no surprise to you to hear that Cottage Theatre’s production of Mamma Mia has been postponed until further notice. The CDC is recommending that gatherings of over 50 people be suspended for 8 weeks, which means the soonest we could open this show would be mid-May (and it may very well be later than that.)

Please join me in a round of virtual applause for our hardworking volunteer cast and crew, who have been memorizing lyrics, practicing dance moves, sewing costumes, and painting sets, all to get ready to share this very upbeat show with you. Whenever it is safe for CT to reopen, Mamma Mia will be the perfect show with which to celebrate. (We will all be ready for some fun when that day comes!)

If you currently have a ticket to Mamma Mia, we will exchange your April ticket to one of our future Mamma Mia performance dates once we have them.  The normal exchange fees will of course be waived in this extraordinary circumstance. As soon as we are able to confirm our future production dates, we will be in touch with all Mamma Mia ticket buyers to coordinate this exchange process.

Here are some other changes at Cottage Theatre to be aware of during this COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Our Box Office is now closed to walk-up traffic effective immediately. We will respond to questions via phone or email only.
  • All rehearsals and meetings in our facility are also suspended at the current time.
  • Our Mamma Mia cast members will continue to practice their songs in their own showers. Feel free to sing along in your own shower too! (Singing loudly is great for boosting your spirits.)

Finally, on a personal note, please know that there are almost 6,000 of you receiving this message and the Cottage Theatre staff currently numbers one (me). So please be patient if you have a question and you don’t hear back from me right away.

Please take good care of yourselves and your families — and find a reason to put a smile on your face at least once a day, even if you don’t feel like it. It really does help!
