September 29, 2023
Sunday is the beginning of National 4-H Week! The National theme is I Love 4-H.
National 4-H week is a great time to share your enthusiasm for 4-H. I would encourage youth to talk to their friends about the 4-H program and share their sparks with others.
During the week, the extension office is challenging you to share your 4-H spirit with us on social media.
*On Tuesday we would like you to wear 4-H Green for Spirit Day. Please share your spirit with friends at school or work with a picture on social media #ILoveDC4H. You can also share it with your clubs Facebook page and then we can see it on the Dodge 4-H page as well.
*On Thursday we would like you to wear your favorite club or activity shirt. Since Thursday is typically “Throwback Thursday” share it on social media #ILoveDC4H as well for all to see.
This is a great time to do the radio interviews with WBEV/Daily Dodge and share your enthusiasm for the 4-H program. Wade Bates and I talked this week, and he is hoping to have clips of 4-H members to share all month to Celebrate 4-H.
Have a great National 4-H week,

Want to help out with 4-H? Volunteer!
If you are 18 years or older and interested in becoming a 4-H volunteer, we can help. We will provide new volunteers with Volunteers in Preparation Training about how to work effectively with youth and what resources are available to volunteers. We will also ask you to participate in a Mandated Reporter Training to learn more about how to protect youth from child abuse and neglect. Finally, to ensure the safety of all youth and volunteers, a Volunteer Behavior Expectations Agreement and background check are required.
Depending on their role, some volunteers may be asked to complete subject matter specific trainings as well as training to enrich their knowledge of youth development (for example chaperones or Shooting Sports leaders).
All volunteers, both new and returning, are also required to take training on how to report sexual misconduct. Answers to questions about reporting and training are available on our FAQ page.
