Hi All,
This past week I attended the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals National Conference in Madison, WI. Below are some highlights from 4-H youth who demonstrated their 4-H talents with attendees from across the nation.
Remember to check out dates at the end of the Friday Focus. We are working on the yearly calendar for 2023 as soon as we have the dates from the charter documents for county project meetings and programs.

Hats Off
...to Zachery Behling (Neosho Utopians) who opened the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals national conference in Madison, WI with a vocal performance. Congratulations Zachery!

...to Cameron Pokorny (Achievers), pictured at right, who was on a team of 4-H youth representatives from across the nation who held a panel discussion on the impact of 4-H programs and 4-H professionals on youth. The panel was part of the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals (NAE4-HYDP) conference in Madison, WI. Thank you Cameron!

County Line (Emma Runyard) The club talked about fundraising and are getting tickets for a 24 ½ lb. farm fresh turkey to be raffled off at our November 1st meeting. The club also voted to have a Christmas Party at the December meeting with a gift exchange and a taco bar.
Hyland Prairie (Vivian Lichty) A motion was made and passed to go to Waldvogel’s Farm in September and the club will pay for the members. Cloverbuds will have an ornament-making activity prior to the October 4-H meeting.
Richwood Rangers (Samantha Zubke) Motion was made to donate money to Loaves and fishes. Highway cleanup will be in October. For the month of October, we’ll have a pumpkin carving contest on Facebook.

4-H Family Learning Day 2023
Dates are set for the 2023 Dodge County 4-H Family Learning Days! The dates are Saturday February 25th and March 25th - both at Dodgeland High School in Juneau.
We are looking for volunteer presenters.

Wisconsin 4-H Charter Application Now Available for Clubs & Groups
The 4-H charter application will be completed online this fall and is due November 1st. Remember, a 4-H charter indicates the club or group is organized in accordance with the objectives of the 4-H program. It authorizes the club or group to use the 4-H emblem for educational purposes in accordance with laws and regulations established by Congress and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The purpose of the 4-H Charter is education, communication, and accountability.

4-H Leaders Celebrate Milestone Anniversaries
Dodge County 4-H Youth Development and the Dodge County 4-H Leaders Association recognizes the volunteer leaders (for their 5, 10, 15, etc. year anniversaries) who share their time and talents to make Dodge County 4-H such a successful program.
Anniversary pins are available upon request for eligible leaders who are celebrating a milestone anniversary. Pins are sponsored by the Dodge County 4-H Leaders Association. Request your pin ONLINE HERE or email tmalterer@co.dodge.wi.us by Friday, October 14, 2022.

Dodge County 4-H is Seeking More Amazing Volunteers!
Volunteers help make 4-H possible! To volunteer, you don’t need to have previous experience working with youth. The most important qualifications are:
- a desire to work with young people to help them learn new things and gain life skills; and
- wanting to provide youth with positive experiences in a safe and welcoming environment
One of the first steps to become a registered 4-H volunteer is to attend a new volunteer orientation, Volunteers in Training (VIP). American Spirit East – June 2-11, June 9-18 or June 16-25, 2023- Pre-Registration opens October 15 - November 30, 2022 in 4HOnline

What is American Spirit East? All youth grades 8-10 have the opportunity to experience history & heritage by immersing in a 10-day bus journey to the East Coast — Youth-led content throughout the experience — Increase knowledge of American history while experiencing where it occurred — Dynamic exposure to diverse cultural experiences and perspectives of the foundation of our nation.
The Program has the Following Objectives for its Participants: -Increase knowledge and understanding of America’s heritage -Build awareness of the many steps taken to gain U.S. independence and freedom -Further develop skills in leadership and personal expression of values -Increase awareness of self in relationship to others -Share what was learned with others in your club and county

Space Camp – April 20-24, 2023

What is Space Camp? Wisconsin 4-H Space Camp is an educational experience where youth, in 6th-8th grade, from across the state take a bus down to Huntsville, Alabama, for a 4 day journey. Youth get the opportunity to venture away from home to meet new friends, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and learn all about space. A team of trained Adult Advisors and Space Camp counselors leads them.
Space Camp is just what you think it is – it’s a camp experience where you learn and experience a ton of different aspects about life as an astronaut, working at NASA, and exploring places beyond Earth! Wisconsin 4-H Space Camp participants experience the Pathfinder Program. The Pathfinder Program is a 3 day experience where youth participate in a variety of simulated space activities. 4-H Clubs Invited to Create New Cedar Crest Ice Cream Flavor!Who: All 4-H Clubs in the State of Wisconsin are eligible. What: Wisconsin 4-H clubs are invited to collaborate to imagine a delicious new ice cream flavor, and come up with an interesting flavor name. Each club may submit up to five entries. When: Entries must be submitted to Cedar Crest Ice Cream no later than November 15, 2022 via online entry form or email.
