Hello Volunteer,
This February, our regular sanctuary work days continue. In addition, at Edith L. Moore, we will be hosting our annual Volunteer Appreciation lunch and we hope you can join us for that special day. Down on the coast, another Horseshoe Marsh planting day is coming up. If you happen to have an RV and some time off for spring, you will absolutely want to check out the High Island RV Caretaker opportunity!
Warm regards,
Gabriel

Meet us at this internationally known birding hot spot and help us beautify one of our nature sanctuaries here, improving both the visitor infrastructure and wildlife habitat. This is a great opportunity to get outside while making a difference. Volunteers who help out at High Island Work Days are treated to a delicious meal prepared by our lunch crew.

February 25th
9 am - 1 pm
Volunteers are invited to help us plant 1,000 native plants and 100 trees to drastically improve bird habitat in our Horseshoe Marsh Sanctuary. This 650-acre wetland complex, located near the Bolivar ferry landing adjacent to the historic Bolivar lighthouse, includes salt marsh and wet coastal prairie surrounding a shallow tidal lagoon. It is critical habitat for large numbers of shorebirds, waders, and ducks including Roseate Spoonbills, Oystercatchers, Long-billed Curlews, Seaside Sparrows and Clapper Rails, among others. As there is no public access to this sanctuary, volunteering is a great way to get to explore this otherwise inaccessible landscape!
