Dear friends,
I hope many of you will be able to join me at two upcoming upcoming virtual Ward 11 events:
First, an evening ward forum on student accommodation, school capacity and land-use planning on the evening of June 2nd (7 - 8:30pm). With so much development in Ward 11 and throughout midtown Toronto, I get a lot of questions about TDSB planning and this event will attempt to give everyone a sense of how we plan for the future (and the present!) and give attendees a chance to ask questions about our process.
A flyer & registration link will follow next week, but mark your calendars for June 2nd!

Second, coming up on the morning of June 8th (9:30 - 11am), I'll be holding my final coffee morning of the 2021-2022 school year! The coffee morning is a chance for community members, council members and parents to come together with our superintendents and get updates about Board news, share information and have relaxed conversations about education in Ward 11.
To join the coffee morning, please
register online. Confirmation & Zoom link will be sent on June 7.

I look forward to connecting with many of you at these two meetings! Wishing everyone a safe and fun-filled long weekend!
Warm regards,
Rachel

tdsbCREATES is a board-wide Arts initiative, running from February-May 2022, that connects local Artists with classrooms to foster creativity while exploring Dance, Drama, Spoken Word, Media Arts, Film, Visual Arts and Music. The program culminates in a Virtual Showcase of student work, launching May 26, 2022. tdsbCREATES focuses on process and engagement through the Arts, while celebrating student voice, powerful ideas, and creativity for all.

This year’s theme, Intersections, is an invitation to focus on (re)connecting, (re)encountering and (re)imagining the spaces we occupy; as we explore and celebrate the unique experiences of our students and their communities throughout Toronto.
Please join us in celebrating the creative potential of TDSB students by visiting the tdsbCREATES Virtual Showcase site on May 26, 2022.
Conversation: The Insidious Nature of Antisemitism Past & Present - May 31

The next instalment of the TDSB Conversation series will feature Larry Mikulcik, National Coordinator for Fighting Antisemitism Together (FAST). He will look at antisemitism on a continuum and show how it has evolved over more than 2,000 years. It will also explore the religious, economic, racial, and political elements of antisemitism, and highlight world events and online sites/communications to demonstrate how antisemitism evolves and mutate and offer strategies to address antisemitism and how parents/caregivers can respond to or teach children to respond when they encounter antisemitism and racism in their (and our) daily lives.

This event will take place Tuesday, May 31, 6:30pm. More information and meeting link will be available at www.tdsb.on.ca/Conversation.
