Welcome      Grow       Serve      Celebrate

We're Growing
at Parkway Hills!

We are delighted to welcome new members John and Dana Watson, who joined Sunday. Please welcome them to our PHUMC family, in person at Worship and via email here: John and Dana.
Sunday, August 6 will be a full Sunday for our Parkway Hills family, and we hope everyone is making plans to attend. We will pray for our teachers and students as a new year begins, be blessed with special music from our adult and children handbells, mark milestones as we hand out Kindergarten and 3rd grade Bibles, celebrate Promotion Sunday, wrap up our Great Church Chill Out worship series, and end the day with food and fun for our kids and youth. This would be a great Sunday to invite a teacher and/or family to join you at Parkway Hills UMC!

Created By God is a UMC-endorsed curriculum teaching 5th and 6th graders and their families about faith and human sexuality. Parkway Hills UMC will be offering this course Friday, Aug.11 and Saturday, Aug.12 to our families and students. We will extend this opportunity to our rising 7th graders as well since this group missed Created By God due to Covid. The course will be $30 per student (this includes the meals, book, and materials for the course). If you have not paid your $30 fee, please do so by August 10. You can pay in person by cash or check, online, or on the Vanco app.
Big House Books
Big House Books is a non-profit, volunteer organization that sends free books by request to prisoners in Mississippi correctional facilities in order to promote literacy and be a vehicle of change for prison reform.
We have placed a bin in the foyer of the Education Building for book donations.
All books must be paperback and in good condition. The current needs are: Bibles/Bible studies and devotionals; activity books (word searches, crosswords, sudoku); dictionaries and thesauruses; computer/IT; skills and trade books; westerns; fantasy; vampire romance; works of popular authors Lisa Jackson, James Patterson, John Grisham, Stephen King, Greg Iles, and Dean Koontz.

If you would like more information about this ministry, contact Amanda Hamilton.

Join us after the Worship service on August 13 for a prayer walk through East Flora Elementary School. Following Worship, we will go to lunch, then head out to East Flora Elementary. This will be a time to walk through the halls and classrooms of East Flora, covering them in prayer along with writing teachers and students encouraging notes. If you are interested in attending the Prayer Walk contact Pastor Haven

Sunday School Volunteers: Promotion Sunday on August 6 begins our new age group Sunday School classes. We are starting a new unit studying the celebrations in the Bible. We will have four Sunday School classes from PreK - 6th grade and will need your help teaching the sessions. If you are interested in volunteering, click here to sign up to teach. All volunteers must have a background check before volunteering in children's ministry.
