Collaboration Between NJIT, Rutgers, Temple Adds Security to AI Education

Cong Shi is a principal investigator on a $127,000 grant, Education on Securing AI System under Adversarial Machine Learning Attacks, from the National Science Foundation. His prior research on the security of computer vision systems and voice assistants led him and his collaborators to see that AI’s fast and vast adoption, without proper education, could expose massive risk.

Pantelis Monogioudis Comments on DeepSeek

"What happened recently may in fact be the beginning of a rationalization phase. Geopolitics aside, the new model that required a small fraction of the cost, relative to other large language/vision models for training, raises questions not only as to how a small budget created a model that does very well on established AI benchmarks, but on the very hypothesis that academia and small startups, many of them created while our students are still in college, can't be players in the AI modeling space. Whether you want to call it our Sputnik moment or not, DeepSeek may, in fact, be a blessing for many, " – Senior Lecturer Pantelis Monogioudis, Department of Data Science.

Jim Geller Comments on Stargate

“Stargate will be amazing for data science and computer science, creating thousands of new jobs. It is the best investment in non-military technology by the U.S. in a long time. Believe the claim. The future of employment for aspiring computing professionals looks bright through this bold initiative.” - Prof. Jim Geller, Chair, Department of Data Science.
