On Sunday, April 2, COLAEHD held its Honors Recognition Ceremony at the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. This year, in addition to awarding certificates to honorees, we received university approval to provide honor cords for recipients to wear to their commencement, whether this semester or at a later date. Thank you to all who helped with student selections for honors and to all who attended the event. This was a truly meaningful and celebratory event, and we congratulate all our COLAEHD Honors students!

Geography Students Visit UNO
|
Center Austria was delighted to welcome a group of Geography students and their two professors to UNO recently. The group was on a two-week tour of New Orleans and New York City to learn about the challenges for "cities after crises." Their major professor, Dr. Martin Heintel, was a Marshall Plan Chair at UNO from 2006-2007.
Climate change, sustainability, renewable energy and economic development after natural disasters and the pandemic were topics of particular interest to them. The students met with top brass from the New Orleans Police Department and learned about their police work. In addition, UNO professor Marla Nelson spoke to them about economic and urban redevelopment in New Orleans.
