Next week, the Center will be celebrating fifty years of playing a key role at Washington University through endowed professorships, acquisition of sophisticated instrumentation, support of faculty involvement in space science missions, supporting postdoctoral and graduate student fellowships and undergraduate interns, seeding innovative research, administering visiting scientist programs, and fostering wide-reaching collaborations.

Welcome Malee Alway. She is the new Electronic Fabrication Specialist in the Department of Physics. She will be responsible for developing, assembly, testing, and operating state-of-the-art electronic systems that are key to our cosmic-ray, gamma-ray and X-ray instrumentation.

Dean’s Award for Graduate Research Excellence
|
|
|
|
Takuya Okawa was named a semifinalist for the Dean’s Award for Graduate Research Excellence, which recognizes graduate students’ outstanding achievements in research, scholarship, or creative practice. He studies astrophysical probes of hypothetical elementary particles called axions and sterile neutrinos, and physics of inflation. After completing his PhD, he has accepted a postdoc position at SISSA, the International School for Advanced Studies as the IFPU (Instutute for Fundamental Physics of the Universe) fellow.
