Social Clubs at RVR – A Call for Ambassadors!
We hope to increase opportunities for those in RVR to enjoy the things they love doing with others in the community, and hopefully meet some new friends in the process!
We are seeking volunteers to serve as ambassadors for special interest groups, or social clubs. At a minimum, the ambassador will serve as a point of contact for connecting members with a similar interest – including new neighbors or others who have yet to establish their own social networks or those looking to take up a new activity. They may also (totally optional) coordinate group activities around the interest, maintain a contact list of interested people, write blurbs for the newsletter about upcoming meet ups, or any number of things that may help our community engage. The club ambassador’s name and contact information will be posted on the website.

Here are some social clubs that we think could be of interest to the community:
  • Fishing
  • Hiking
  • Skiing
  • Cross Country Skiing
  • Road Cycling
  • Mountain Biking
  • Book Club
  • Crafts
  • Bridge
  • Mahjong
  • Boating
  • Walking
  • Poker
  • Gardening
  • Any other ideas welcome!

Think Before You Click!
We have noticed an increased number of phishing and spoofing emails come to us in recent months. We urge community members to be aware of these cyber attacks and think before you click!
Often hackers will visit the websites of an organization and impersonate employees. You may see an email that uses the name of someone at RVRMA, but when you click to reply, the email address may not look familiar. Remember, just because the heading displays a trusted name, it does not mean that the email address belongs to that person. If it seem Phishy, it’s probably Phishing!
Another form of phishing will use fake hyperlinks to lure you into sharing personal information. Spoofing happens when someone impersonates a trusted contact or brand to access your personal information. We urge the community to stay sharp and  remember you can always call to confirm the email is legitimate.
If you want more information about how to recognize, avoid and report phishing scams, please visit: https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/how-recognize-and-avoid-phishing-scams.

Reminders & Highlights

What Goes Up Must Come Down
All holiday lighting should now be turned off.  Holiday yard ornaments/décor, visible holiday lights and house icicle lights must be down now. Outdoor tree lights should be turned off but homeowners have until Wednesday, March 1 to remove tree lights. Thanks for your cooperation!
Mail Pick Up
Please be sure to collect your mail regularly. The USPS has made us aware that some boxes in the mail room are so full that they are having to take mail back to the post office.
Parking in RVR
All roadways in RVR are considered public streets and parking is regulated by the Town of Carbondale. Parking violations that are observed on RVR streets can be reported to the Carbondale P.D. non-emergency line at 970.963.2662.
If you are unsure if the violation is on a public street feel free to reach out to the RVR office, we are happy to assist homeowners with any questions and provide clarification.
Twentieth Amendment
During the January Board meeting, the Twentieth Amendment to the Design Guidelines was presented to the board. The new Amendment will be voted on at the February Board of Directors meeting.
We invite the community to preview it here: Twentieth Amendment.

Green Tip
Please enjoy the following eco-friendly tidbit brought to you by Friends of the Environment:
Considering joining the international Meatless Monday campaign? It was formed to encourage people to not eat meat on Mondays to improve the health of the planet, among other reasons. Reducing meat consumption has many benefits; it is a significant action you can take to help our environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and soil degradation. Reduction of meat consumption will also save a large amount of land and water and increase biodiversity. So why not give it a try?
Upcoming Meetings
Monday Winter Golf Course Meet Up!
Want to get out and enjoy everything RVR offers in the winter, especially with all the great snow? Join a group of residents every Monday for an outdoor adventure on the golf course: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or walking. Meet at the north end of the golf course parking lot at 8:45 a.m. We’ll explore the front nine, back nine, or both! Each nine can be done in about 75 minutes. Come prepared to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and hopefully meet some new neighbors.
