Surplus Garden Veggies Wanted

Got extra squash and tomatoes from your garden? The Academy is accepting one-time donations from families of fresh, healthful vegetables you've home-grown for Mr. Langston to incorporate into some meals. Please feel free to send in any surplus veggies you have before next Wednesday, September 30.
Community Suppers

Community Suppers take place at Trinity Church at 17 Severance Street in Shelburne Falls, are scheduled by team, and occur on many Fridays of the school year. Your child will be notified by their team leaders early on during the weeks when their team will be participating - each team serves two  community meals per year.  Students are asked to contribute salad fixings and homemade desserts.  Please refer to our website for more details on Community Suppers.
STUDENT DROP OFF
As a matter of safety and to reduce traffic near the entrance to Hobbs Hall, parents who transport their children to school are reminded to drop off and pick up in the designated area in front of Grinnell Hall, the easternmost building on campus.
CONFERENCES
Our student-led conferences allow parents and teachers to discuss each student's progress and determine what we all can do to support every individual child. Conferences this year will take place from 12:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23. We ask that everyone please sign up online for a conference slot by Monday, October 5.
Parents Roundtable Discussions
with Duncan Laird, LICSW

We are pleased to be once again offering parents the opportunity to meet with The Academy's psychological consultant,
Duncan Laird, LICSW. Duncan will cover important points about the developmental stage of students in the grade levels indicated, as well as address any questions or concerns that parents might have.
In an effort to provide a more central location, these meetings will be held in the MacLeish Room on the second floor of Greenfield Community College's Main Building. Please contact Nora Bates Zale with questions, concerns, or ideas for alternative locations. The dates and times of these nights are as follows::

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1

Plan to arrive at 3:30 P; the closes at 5:00 PM. There will be over 100 colleges represented at the fair. This is a great opportunity for students to gather information and meet college representatives. Please contact Neale Gay with any questions.
Blood Drive- October 2

The Red Cross returns to campus for their twice yearly Blood Drive at The Academy!  The Blood Drive will be held on Friday, October 2, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. Students will be bringing home donor forms, with the goal of every student finding at least one person to donate blood. Appointments can be made by filling out the donor form, or by calling the Main Office during regular business hours, or by visiting the Red Cross Blood Drive appointment page and entering our zip code. Baked goods for donors are also a high priority, so there are ways for everyone to lend a hand.  We appreciate in advance your support of this important service event!
FROM THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE

Please encourage your friends and family members with an interest in exploring The Academy to contact Martha Tirk in the Admissions Office to schedule a visit. Campus Visit Days can take place before or after our first Open House of the year which will be held October 18.  Please help us spread the word!  Interested families can pre-register for the Open House on our website here.

Why not host a pie baking bee at your house? Let us know if you decide to organize a get together!   Be on the look out for your reminder email in the next week.  Funds are used to support the school; most recently used for Staff development.
Cornucopia Auction & Social
Saturday, November 7
5:00 PM

The Academy Auction Committee is busy soliciting exciting items for the November 7 Cornucopia Auction. What can I be doing, you ask yourself? Why thank you so much for asking. One idea is for you to host a "Great Gathering." This is a fundraising and community building idea that we'd like to see more of at our Auction. We're asking our community members to host an event: it could be a hike with a snack at the summit of a local peak; it could be a dinner on your patio; it could be an afternoon of sledding on your homemade luge in January; it could be an eighteenth century dinner served in front of your historic fireplace; it could be a day of crafting or rafting or whatever you love and want to share with our community. Let us know your idea by filling out the handy Cornucopia Auction Form. Tell us how many people you can accommodate. Set a price per person. If possible give a date. We'd love it if you indulged your creative side and came up with a small display around your theme the week before the Auction. What a great way to raise money and get to know some of our diverse and far-flung community, you say. Why, Yes! We knew you'd like it. Thank you so much for being an active part of our community. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Fancy yourself an amateur chef? Please read this to find another way that you can help ensure that the auction is a success!
