Dear Friends,
Is there ever a time when we are not working on ourselves? Some days maybe we are more aware, some days less, but we are always changing whether we like it or not. This month one of the resources we share is a book by Dr. Phil Stutz, “Lessons For Living”. Dr. Stutz gives straight forward techniques on how to look at yourself, live with the past and accept who you are. The documentary (linked below) demonstrates and explains in more detail. Check it out, you may find some useful knowledge to help you move through your own barriers so you can”Live your best life.”
The isolation that many people feel in our society today was magnified by COVID and is still with us. Humans need connection. Text messages are great for some things but will never qualify for meaningful interaction like sitting down for coffee or having lunch with a friend. When was the last time you called to say hello? Holiday Mathis entertains this notion with her unique perspective. We hope it inspires you to pick up the phone and check in on your friends. You're welcome!
A staggering statistic today says that 1 in 3 seniors will die with Alzheimer’s or dementia. If we put that across our community of 13,717 over 4,000 of us will be diagnosed and die with a neurodegenerative condition. We came across recently Music Mends Minds a nonprofit that brings music as therapy for people with these diseases. Research says that hearing, playing, or dancing, stimulates music centers in our brains that are miraculously spared from the destruction that happens in other places in our brains by these diseases. Head over to their website to learn more about the work they are doing and information about their programs.
We need to give a big shout out to our sponsor Regent Seven Seas for being awarded "Best Cruise Line for Luxury". Nothing but the best for our community! Did you know that over 80% of 1st time cruise goers return to cruise again? Head to the blog to find out why.
We appreciate this community. If you have a friend or someone that you know that might enjoy the resources we provide through this newsletter please share this sign-up form. Thank you! Enjoy these lazy days of summer!
Keep dreaming! Are you dreaming big? Now go bigger.

Researchers have confirmed the beneficial effects of music therapy and are exploring it as a viable alternative treatment in delaying the symptoms of neurodegenerative dementias. Music has been shown to synchronize the mind. Playing a musical instrument is likened to a full-body work out for the brain, integrating motor, heightened sensory and auditory function, emotion, and other higher-order processes of the brain. In addition, it seems to affect lower, more primitive areas of the brain as well. The effect? Music seems to be retained in the brain differently from other sorts of cognition such as memory and language and can be accessed as a form of communication when other avenues are lost. This is an interesting approach to therapy. There is humor, honesty, new ways
to think about how to live with our imperfections.

| Lessons for Living. A companion piece that goes hand in hand with the documentary. This is a series of short essays that can be read or listened to individually or as a whole.
One essay talks about what Dr. Stutz calls our "shadow". Inside the shadow are all the secret parts of ourselves, our mistakes, our guilt, fears, anything we are afraid to show people. Learning to love your shadow can lead to major break throughs. He breaks it down then gives easy to understand solutions on how to move through this and other topics as well.
