In this edition of Live Rooibos, we explore the many ways Rooibos continues to evolve beyond the teacup — from global beauty conversations to everyday wellness rituals and proudly South African hospitality.
We look at how experts are highlighting Rooibos as a skin-supporting tea in the growing inside-out beauty movement, and how African botanicals — including Rooibos — are being championed in purpose-driven skincare rooted in heritage and community.
We also celebrate Rooibos at the heart of local hosting traditions and share a refreshing granadilla, peach and citrus Rooibos smoothie — a vibrant reminder that Rooibos is as versatile in the kitchen as it is comforting in the cup.

A recent feature in Elle exploring teas that can help support clearer skin has placed Rooibos among the expert-recommended options for promoting a healthy, balanced complexion. According to integrative medical doctor Dr. Lamees Hamdan, tea can play a meaningful role in overall wellness, particularly when it comes to calming inflammation and supporting the body from within.
Rooibos, in particular, is noted for its antioxidant content, circulation-supporting properties and naturally occurring zinc — a mineral associated with skin renewal. As part of a daily ritual, caffeine-free herbal teas like Rooibos may help support digestive health and reduce oxidative stress, both of which are linked to clearer, more resilient skin.
As interest grows in inside-out approaches to beauty and wellness, Rooibos continues to stand out as a gentle, accessible option — reinforcing its place not only in the cup, but in modern self-care routines focused on long-term skin health.

Rooibos is gaining further recognition in the global beauty space, this time through S’ABLE Labs, co-founded by Canadian model, Sabrina Elba. Speaking about her approach to building intentional skincare, Elba highlights African botanicals — including Rooibos — as central to formulations rooted in heritage and community.
Describing her philosophy as “A beauty,” Elba draws on generations of African knowledge, traditions and ingredients. She notes that botanicals such as shea, Black soap and Rooibos originate from some of the world’s harshest climates, contributing to their resilience and potency in skincare applications.
By incorporating Rooibos into purpose-driven formulations, S’ABLE Labs reinforces the ingredient’s growing relevance in modern beauty — where heritage, sustainability and efficacy intersect. It is another example of how Rooibos continues to move beyond the cup, finding meaningful expression in globally conscious skincare innovation.

Whether paired with local treats or shared during relaxed conversation, Rooibos turns simple gatherings into lasting memories. As guests return home with stories of their travels, it may be a warm cup of Rooibos that truly captures the spirit of South African hospitality.
