Tablas Creek Vineyard
Dear Tablas Creek Supporter,

Greetings from Paso Robles, where our cool, wet winter has created a wonderfully green Spring. Up next is what should be an amazing wildflower season. Budbreak is just beginning. News about that, and much more, below.

Tablas Creek Vineyard Turns 30

This year marks 30 years since Robert Haas and brothers Jean-Pierre and Francois Perrin settled on Paso Robles as the place to bring their dream of creating a Chateauneuf-du-Pape-style winery in California to fruition.
We will be planning events and celebrations throughout the year. To kick things off, Jason Haas wrote a blog about 10 things we got right (and wrong) from the outset

Do you have a memory or photo from the early days? If so, please share. We've even created a hashtag: #Tablas30Years

Spring 2019 Vineyard Update

It's been a wonderful winter. We have had 31" of rain (about 125% of normal) and chilly enough temperatures to keep the vines dormant two weeks longer than average. First budbreak occurred just at the end of March (if you guessed Grenache Blanc would be first, you win!).
Jason explores what this all means for the 2019 growing season in his recent blog.  Also on the blog, Paso Robles is ridiculously beautiful right now. Those of you coming for a tour in the coming weeks are in for a treat.

Spring VINsider Shipments

Spring VINsider Wine Club shipments just went out to Club members!  If you are a member, thank you! You might enjoy this blog piece with complete tasting notes. If you're not yet a member and you're interested in joining the family, don't worry... we always set aside a few shipments for late additions!
The shipment is highlighted by the 2016 Panoplie, rated 95-96 points from Vinous, 96 points from Jeb Dunnuck, and 93-95 by Wine Advocate. Also included: our first new blend in a decade, Le Complice (a union of Syrah and Terret Noir, rated 93 points by Vinous and Jeb Dunnuck) plus two small-production varietal bottlings, our newest Cotes de Tablas, and our Dianthus rosé. Classic, red-only and white-only shipment details are on our club shipments page.  You can also read about the benefits of membership.

Spring 2019 Cellar Update: White Blending

In the cellar, we've been working on blending the lots from the terrific 2018 vintage. If you're interested in the process, Jason wrote a blog that takes you through what happened in our white blending this year.
Spoiler alert: this will be the first-ever year where you'll get to try all seven white Rhone grapes as varietal wines!

In the Wine Spectator: 2016 Esprit de Tablas 94 points. Plus, The Press reviews Tablas Creek

We are proud to share that the 2016 Esprit de Tablas received a 94 point rating from Wine Spectator, and the comment "combines structure with polish and substance". Read the review here.
The Press, the SF Chronicle's new guide to wine country, expanded to include Paso Robles recently, and we're excited to be on their Paso Robles Bucket List. You can also read our winery review here.

Collector's Vertical Flight Tasting

To celebrate 30 years, we've launched a new format for our Collector's Tasting! Join us and taste a vertical flight of the past six vintages of our flagship Esprit de Tablas.
Because of our seating constraints, this experience is limited to groups of 6 or fewer. The tasting is reservation only and available Sunday-Friday at 11:30am and 3pm and Saturdays & holiday weekends only at 10am. For photos and background, see the Tablas Creek blog. To reserve, choose your date and time online or email visit@tablascreek.com.

April Wine Feature- 2017 Cotes de Tablas

Each month, we pick a wine to feature, based on the season and how the wine is tasting. We offer that wine at an extra 10% discount, beyond any club or case discounts.
This April we are excited to feature the 2017 Cotes de Tablas. Normally $35, on feature it's just $24.50/bottle for VINsiders and $31.50 for non-members! This blend of 53% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 12% Mourvedre, and 10% Counoise has Grenache's juiciness and vibrancy, with added substance and depth from the three other grapes. Vinous awarded it 91-93 points, and said it "smoothly plays power off delicacy and finishes very long." Great with everything from steaks, hearty pastas, or anything grilled, this blend will carry you through all those BBQ's in the months to come!  Try it with our braised short ribs recipe.

Blog Feature: You may not be aging your Rhone whites. But if you do, here's what to expect.

Jason recently sat down with some of older vintages of our flagship white blend the Esprit Blanc. You may not typically think about aging whites, but the rewards for doing so can be substantial. Jason explains in this blog post.

Upcoming Event: Panoplie Vertical Tasting

Each year, we pick one wine to go back through and taste all our back vintages, and then share the highlights with the public. This year, on July 21st, in celebration of our 30th Anniversary, we've decided to turn our focus for the first time to the Panoplie, our elite red blend based on Mourvedre and available only to wine club members. Every vintage since 2002 has received 95 points or more from Wine Advocate and/or Vinous! At this tasting, we will taste eight different vintages, from our first-ever 2000 to the soon-to-be-bottled 2017, and look forward to a lively discussion!

Seats at this unique opportunity are $110 for wine club members and $135 for guests, and the event will be limited to 75 people. We expect the event to sell out. For reservations or more information, please contact us at events@tablascreek.com or 805.237.1231 x236.
