The Happy Place
Phoenix Center Child, age 11
Dear Friend,
As Spring brings growth to the world around us, we are reminded of the power of hope, healing and possibility.

Friends like you have made it possible for us to continue growing our programs and increasing the number of children and families served in our community, even with our current location’s limited space. Hope springs eternal at the Phoenix Center as we continue serving more children and families than ever before. Thanks to your support, local children and families are healing and thriving... changing life trajectories forever.

Soaring to New Heights!
Ropes Course in Action! In March, we hosted a 4-day Ropes Course Facilitator Training at the completed challenge course at the new property! Heartfelt gratitude to all who donated to make this possible! Our next phase of construction will be building a state-of-the-art counseling center on our future site.

Board Member Spotlight: Allan Garrett, JD!
Allan Garrett has served on the Board of Directors since the founding of the Phoenix Center. We recently spoke to Allan about his involvement with Phoenix Center and why our mission is particularly close to his heart.
What is your personal connection to our mission?
I believe all children are born innocent. Their circumstances are not the result of any of their choices. Therefore, all children deserve the chance at healing, hope,
and transformation.
What led you to the Phoenix Center and your decision to be on the Board?
Phoenix Center is the result of my wife’s love and life work. Phoenix Center is her vision and drew me in. Even if someone else had started this Center and all its programming, I would support their work.
How have you seen the Phoenix Center impact our community?
The Phoenix Center has changed lives. Put bluntly, the Phoenix Center saves lives and changes entire families for the better over multiple generations.
Now time for some fun: What's something most people don't know about you?
Growing up, I always wanted to be a fighter pilot. I later learned that I was scared of heights and susceptible to motion sickness. Air pilot dreams faded away.
If you could have a superpower what would it be?
My superpower would be the ability to teleport: to be able to cut travel time down to zero. That would be nice.

About Phoenix Center
Our mission is to inspire hope, health and healing by providing the highest level of care to every child and family through innovative trauma-informed therapy and education.
Phoenix Center is committed to meeting the need for high-quality, affordable mental health care for local children and families.
When children have experienced trauma or abuse, research shows early intervention is critical for long-term well-being and health. Through our services, children in need are able to access exemplary mental health services and ultimately thrive as individuals and families.

Our Programs
Phoenix Counseling: Research-based therapy services for children who have experienced trauma, including play therapy for children as young as 2 years-old
Children's Groups: Therapeutic children's groups which promote relaxation, coping, and social skills. We use innovative, experiential methods such as music therapy, art therapy, yoga/movement & animal-assisted therapy. Research shows these methods are developmentally appropriate and help the brain heal and grow.
Parenting Groups:  Research-based parenting programs utilize research-based curricula with documented results. Groups are all provided at no cost and include school-based programs for pregnant teens and teen parents.
Camp Phoenix: Therapeutic camp sessions at Candlelight Ranch, including equine therapy and our own innovative therapeutic camp curriculum, found nowhere else.
Community Outreach & Collaborations: Trauma-informed trainings & community partnerships to meet the complex needs of children and families who have experienced trauma. Our partnership with MFISD allows us to serve more children in need today - before we construct our future facilities.
