NEW TEXT MESSAGE ALERT SYSTEM
As part of Brebeuf Jesuit’s continuing efforts to improve school communications, we will begin utilizing a text messaging service for Brebeuf Jesuit families beginning the week of September 19, 2016. Brebeuf will utilize the AP Notify School Messenger Service. This new service will not require parents to install an app, sign up for anything, or opt in. Text messages will be sent to the cell phone number already on file in Portals. The goal of this service is to provide timely information via text messages in the event of an emergency, important schedule change or other critical information only. On Friday, September 16, parents and staff members will receive a text message from Brebeuf on their designated primary cell phone. Notes: - The text messages will always come to your phone from 956-64.
- If you do not receive a text message on September 16, that means we do not have your cell phone number in our database.

Student SpotlightNICK GINN '17
Loves about Brebeuf: I love the freedom the Brebeuf Jesuit schedule provides with PRTs. Having the ability to go talk to teachers, get homework done, or use that time to have fun with intramurals is great.
I also love the openness of Brebeuf’s teachers. The amount of personal and professional time they provide to students allows us to become the best version of ourselves.
Favorite Class: My favorite class is Newspaper. It is only my first semester taking the class, but I have really enjoyed it so far, and I am discovering that I have yet another interest to explore. I was just asked to be the sports editor, and I am really excited about it!
Future Plans: I hope to attend Miami University in Ohio or High Point University to study sports management. That will hopefully lead to a great internship and a career. I am excited to go to college and discover what my true passion is and figuring out what I love to do.
Teams & Co-Curriculars: Varsity Soccer
Ultimate Frisbee
Clear Lakes Ski Club
Tatum’s Bags of Fun
GISHL – Greater Indianapolis Street Hockey League
Intramural Basketball
Club Soccer in Zionsville
Newspaper Sports Section Editor
Random Fact: My nickname is Speed – started from soccer freshman year and just stuck..
Is Brebeuf as academically rigorous as they say? I believe it is. Classes at Brebeuf Jesuit challenge you to do your best and it is imperative to work hard. Students are taught the importance of time management to ensure they complete their homework outside of class. We are provided specific breaks in our schedule so that we have time to seek help, which is often needed. As an example of the workload at Brebeuf, last week, I had a sports psychology test, an AP calculus test, two articles due for Newspaper, two soccer games, an ACT test prep class, and a quiz in biotech.
Would you rather…
Eat ice cream or pizza as the only food for the rest of your life?
Pizza, because I would be able to have a number of different varieties than ice cream.
Be stuck on a broken ski lift or broken elevator?
Have to go with a ski lift – the view would be better and an elevator would get really hot.
Would you rather spend one year sailing around the world or living in the heart of London?
Sailing around the world because you would be able to see more than just living in London.
Live in Antarctica or the Sahara Desert?
Antarctica – because of the penguins.
Be known as a one-hit wonder for a novel or a song?
Song – I feel like it would be cooler to have that in my generation – if I was older, I would say a novel, as those tend to last longer than a song.

Welcome Jody Root to Brebeuf Jesuit
Jody Root is originally from St. Louis, but grew up in Washington, D.C., due to her father’s career as a three-term United States Senator from Missouri. She majored in English at Princeton University, where she graduated cum laude in 1990, earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University in 1993, and then embarked upon a career as a hospice nurse. After conducting Princeton admissions interviews for over ten years, Jody chose to enter the field of college counseling as a second career. She completed UCLA’s Certificate in College Counseling with Distinction and joined us as an intern last year on the Brebeuf college counseling staff. Jody is trained as a college essay coach through the nationally renowned Wow! Writing Workshop. She has also completed training in the Strong Interest Inventory, and is certified to administer and interpret this Level B psychometric instrument used in personality and career assessment. Jody will be part-time this year and will complement the college counseling staff in a variety of ways. Welcome to Brebeuf Jesuit!
