Happy Holidays from LCA!
Happy Holidays from LCA!

A Word From Our Headmaster

The gift God gave me this year.

"How's it been, readjusting to life in America?" I've been asked by so many.

"Has it been difficult?"

After our adventure moving from Brisbane to Tacoma, you would have thought it WOULD be difficult slotting back into the daily rhythms and responsibilities and the different way of doing things in the U.S. Felicity and I do have a ‘full life’ of ferrying around children, attending cross country meets, tennis matches, baseball, and football games, remodeling a house, social functions, meeting people, juggling work, and supporting students at various activities in a cool and now rainy climate.

International Student Hosting
Have you ever thought about hosting an International student but weren’t sure if it would be a good “fit” for you and your family?

We have an opportunity for you to try it short term!

LCA will be hosting 3 short term International student groups in January and February. They will need housing for students for 6 days, 10 days, and 21 days!

Students range in age from 9–16 years old. We pay host families $33.00 per night and you may host up to 4 students as long as they each have their own bed.

Call Linda Davis for more details at 253.756.2427 or reach out via email.

Student Spotlight
Did you know that LCA 8th grader Jordan Allen runs his very own candy business? Jordan was asked to speak to group of veterans about entrepreneurship at UW Tacoma in September to share his experience and knowledge. Also, if you have a sweet tooth or need a gift, his candy can be found in various locations across the South Puget Sound! Learn more about Jordan and gift of giving back to our community here.
Yearbook Club
Fourth and fifth grade students are invited to join our Yearbook Club! This year we will meet on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00pm in the Innovation Lab. If you have any questions regarding the Elementary Yearbook Club, please contact Denise Milles
LCA Scientists
The 7th grade Life Science students observed whether or not sugar was present in different foods. By using Benedict’s Solution and boiling water, the students were able to see what food changed colors (green, brick red, or dark yellow/mustard), which indicated if there was sugar present or not. If the color didn’t change from blue (the color of the Benedict’s Solution) to one of the other colors, it simply meant that there was either no or very little sugar present. They found out that the raisin had more sugar than the banana, potato chip, almond milk, milk, and water. Visit our photo gallery for more photos of our scientists in action!
Mom's Prayer Gathering
Wednesday, January 9
Moms, join us as we come together to pray blessings for our families, our school, and our future.

The Scripture says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”  Philippians 4:6.

Let’s share  our common journey as mothers and PRAY for our family, believing for God’s best for our children. We hope to see you on January 9 in the Gray Chapel at 8:45am.

Volunteers Needed
We are looking forward to an exciting winter season at LCA! Our elementary FUEL Basketball League for grades 3-6 has an opportunity for you to get involved and help athletes just learning the game. We are in need of referees for games between 8:00am and 1:00pm on Saturdays at LCA.
Our high school basketball teams are off to a great start and we could use your help in several areas as well. We are looking for a score keeper, a game clock operator, and an announcer. If you are able to help with one or multiple games, your time would be appreciated.
To volunteer in one of these areas or find out about other opportunities, please contact Suzanne Corrigan.

Thank you to our major sponsors.
