Today is EPIPHANY!
Be sure to stay alert to the ways God is appearing to YOU.
Be aware of how Christ is being made manifest to others through the actions and words of YOUR life. Be open to the small
"Aha! Moments" that often take us by surprise, but allow us to experience God's coming in a new way.
To get you started, read Luke 2:22-52. Catch the excitement of the "Aha! Moments" God manifests to others through the appearance of Jesus in his early years. If you missed Sunday's Epiphany message, watch it HERE on Facebook or HERE on YouTube.

Picture This

When I picture the worship space at Parkway Hills,
I picture windows.
I love the many windows at our church. I love that we can look outside and see trees, sun, rain, and birds; and I love that our stained glass windows have a story. These beautiful, 115 year-old windows originally illuminated Capitol Street United Methodist Church in Jackson. When that church closed, a new home, a new beginning was pictured for them in the master plan of our newly constituted church.
These windows help us picture the story of Christ. The three at the back of our worship space move from Bethlehem, to Jesus’ time of teaching and healing, and finally to the cross.
We, too, move through the story of Christ every year. We step into the waiting and hope of Advent as the holiday season begins and we proclaim Emmanuel, God with us, as Christmas day arrives. Today, we lift up the light of Epiphany and remember the wise men from the east who help us picture who this Christ is. As we approach Lent, we watch as Jesus walks among us; calling, teaching, healing, loving, listening, and challenging. We watch as Jesus ministers throughout Galilee. I invite you to join me and your church family beginning this Sunday, January 10th, as we begin a 5-week series walking with Jesus.
2020, a year like no other, has ended. We carry the scars of this tumultuous year with us into 2021 and we know we still have a long way to go to heal. Let us picture ourselves walking with Jesus, listening and learning from the One who shows us how to move through each day bringing good news, offering healing, and working to create redemption and renewal in the broken places of life.
Join us at 10 am, outside on the lawn (weather permitting) or online, and invite a friend!      - Pastor Dawn

God Made Manifest Through...

SOCKS???
Socks are the #1 most-requested clothing item in homeless shelters. Bombas was founded on the philosophy of donating socks to those in need, but has evolved to go deeper into the community. This year, PHUMC is again the recipient of their generosity. We have 3,000 pair of socks to give out through Grace Place, our Ministry with the Homeless, 55 and Love, and other outlets. If you are aware of others who could be blessed through this donation, please contact Philip Messner.
CHANGE OF PLANS
Due to the extreme cold predicted for this weekend, our Confirmation plans have changed. We will NOT meet this Friday and Saturday, nor have Confirmation Sunday this Sunday.
Instead we will move the retreat to next weekend and we will consider Confirmation Sunday preparations week by week. We will wait to hold this meaningful service on a Sunday morning that will work best for all.
We want as many of our confirmands' church family to be present as is safely possible so we will wait for an appropriate day!
UPDATED PLANS
Friday: January 15th @ 6 pm lesson in the Worship Center
Saturday: January 16th - Meet @ church at 8 am for a day at Camp Wesley Pines
Additional information will be sent via email.

We will continue to watch COVID-19 numbers in our area and listen to the advice of  medical professionals; we will make adjustments in February if needed.

"What Does the Church Do?" That's the question we'll be looking at and living out this semester as we kick off 2021 together on January 17th. (We are pushing back our first meeting by a week in hopes the weather will warm enough to allow us to gather outdoors for safety.) The first thing we'll do January 17th is welcome our new confirmands with a night of fellowship and fun aimed at getting to know each other and exploring how we all fit in God's design.
January's Communion Offering supports Methodist Senior Services Sunday Fund. 100% of your gifts to the "Sunday Fund" help elders who have outlived their resources and can no longer afford the cost of housing or care.
