Monica De Roche and Brock Rowberry were recognized as CASL's two Chancellor's Medallion recipients during the university's commencement ceremony on April 29. Ms. De Roche also spoke at the graduation. Each commencement, faculty choose Chancellor's Medallion recipients based on academic records, quality of character, vitality, intellect and integrity.
The Board of Regents, at their meeting on May 17, approved promotions and tenure for the following CASL faculty members. [more]

Study abroad trip to France. The importance and value of study abroad experiences do not go unnoticed by our students: Rania Abouzour—who has decided to minor in French—said, "regardless of your major or career path, knowing another language and having familiarity with another culture will open doors." Study abroad experience takes students through history, France.
Global Brigades--UM-Dearborn's student chapter traveled to Nicaragua last month, accompanied by Hispanic Professor Jorge González del Pozo. Global Brigades is a nonprofit organization that helps under-resourced communities resolve global health disparities. Below is the students' video of their experience.
On Tuesday, June 19, join the UM-Dearborn CASL Alumni Affiliate at Bailey’s of Dearborn for an evening of fun and networking. Time: 6-8 p.m.

Proceeds from cookbook sales will replenish the SOAR Support Fund, a critical difference fund that covers unexpected financial needs students may have during the academic year.
Alumni from across the colleges and the decades came back to campus on May 5 for Alumni Day 2018. They enjoyed networking with their fellow Dearborn Wolverines, the keynote presentation by former Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Life Stan Henderson, and seminars on health and community, financial literacy, and leadership.
