UO EVENTS
  • Join the Global Studies Institute for Extra! Extra! Don’t Kill the Messenger—a four-day symposium gathering international journalists and writers in exile—happening today through Sunday, April 7. Free for UO students; RSVP encouraged.
  • The Cinema Studies Harlan J. Strauss Visiting Filmmaker Series begins Tuesday, April 9, with Dark Horse Entertainment executive producer Keith Goldberg. The series will feature numerous award-winning producers and filmmakers–including Best Director Oscar winner Chloé Zhao (Nomadland)—and runs through June 13.
  • April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month–an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity with survivors, and to be agents of change in preventing sexual assault. Get involved through the SAAM events calendar

  • Voting for the ASUO Spring Election is now open. Eligible students who have paid the I-Fee can vote online until Monday, April 8, at 9:00 a.m.
  • Live near campus and want to be a good neighbor? The Party Registration Program aims to reduce noise and disturbances in neighborhoods. Orientation—required to register a party—will be held on Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 24, 6:30–7:30 p.m. in EMU Crater Lake North.
  • Show off your hard work at the Undergraduate Research Symposium or the Graduate Research Forum if you submit a proposal by Wednesday, April 17. All disciplines and interests are welcome, no matter where you are in your research process.
  • If you know of or participate in a student group that inspires and engages others, apply for a Student Group Excellence Award and your group could win cash! Deadline is Friday, April 19.
  • Add “supervisory and organizational skills” to your resume this summer. The Department of Physical Education and Recreation is hiring for Duck Trails camp counselors. Deadline to apply is Sunday, April 21.
  • If you submit help tickets through the UO Service Portal, you may notice some changes in the coming months while UO staff reorganize the site.
IMPORTANT DATES
  • Sunday, April 7, is the last day to reduce credits for a full tuition refund and a "W" recorded. It’s also the last day to process a complete withdrawal for a 90-percent tuition refund and a "W" recorded. Refer to the Registrar's website more information.
  • Spring 2024 commencement is on Monday, June 17. If you are eligible to graduate, apply for your degree as soon as possible. Graduate students should apply on GradWeb by Friday, April 12. Undergraduate students should apply on DuckWeb by Sunday, April 28.

  • Interested in negotiating your wages, understanding your working rights, or the significance of unions? The Future of Work Conference on Saturday, April 6, noon–5:00 p.m. in the EMU Redwood Auditorium, features empowering skills for entering the workforce.

  • Save the date for an upcoming listening session with UO President Scholz on Tuesday, April 23, 4:00–5:00 p.m. in the EMU Redwood Auditorium.
  • UO Vice President and Knight Campus Executive Director Robert Guldberg will speak at TedxPortland on Saturday, April 27, to discuss musculoskeletal injuries and how monitoring cells in the blood may help patients heal.

  • The Men's Resource Center hosts TikTok and Instagram star Shaun Galanos on Thursday, April 11, 6:00–7:00 p.m. in 282 Lillis. Learn how to communicate openly, honestly, and playfully within various relationship types. Free with UO student ID; all genders are welcome.
  • Counseling Services offers Let’s Talk for confidential, drop-in, one-on-one consultation with a Counseling Services staff member. Join this spring and know you’re not alone.
