Summer news at the Mahaiwe
Dear Patron,
This summer brings some new activity to the Mahaiwe, with fresh faces to the team, an exciting grant from Massachusetts Cultural Council, and more below!
We hope you enjoy learning about these updates,
and as always, thanks for your support,
Team Mahaiwe

New crew!
Riley Andersen is the Mahaiwe's new Marketing Assistant. Riley is no stranger to Berkshire arts marketing – she holds a similar post with our friends at Norman Rockwell Museum. Riley attended Elms College, where she studied Social Media Marketing. When not at work, she enjoys being outside riding four-wheelers, watching hockey games, and going golfing. She is looking forward to strengthening the Mahaiwe's brand voice over our social channels.
Brenna Hull (she/they) has joined the team as Advancement Manager. Brenna comes from a background in theatre including posts at Berkshire Opera Festival, Peregrine Theatre Ensemble, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, and more. She is an alumna of Boston University, where she studied Stage Management. When she isn't working, she can be found listening to podcasts, going for hikes, or hanging out with her dog, Mazee. She is looking forward to meeting all the members of the Mahaiwe family!
Molly Menner (she/her) has joined the Mahaiwe team this summer as a Box Office and Theater Assistant. She has a background in theater education, including teaching and directing at children's theaters around New England. She is excited to work with the Mahaiwe community!
The production team's newest member is Assistant Production Manager Thomas Randle. Thomas returns to theater work after 5 years outside the arts, but before that spent over a decade with our neighbors to the north, Shakespeare & Company. He is a trained lighting designer, scenic designer, actor, props artisan, education artist, carpenter, electrician, and janitor. In his free time, Thomas enjoys crossword puzzles, horror movies, and trying to get his cat, Phillip, to behave.
Raise the Roof!
The Mahaiwe is delighted to announce a $150,000 challenge grant from Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) and MassDevelopment via the MCC Facilities Fund to repair the theater's roof. The Prospect Hill Foundation jumped in with matching funds of $25,000. At the Mahaiwe's annual Gala on July 15, attendees donated another $99,000 through a live auction and paddle raise. Thanks to all these generous donors, the Mahaiwe is more than halfway to funding the two-year restoration project, which is projected to cost $500,000.
To secure the Facilities Fund challenge grant, the Mahaiwe is seeking $21,000 in additional donations. Help Raise the Roof! Contributions will help to replace the 1905 slate shingle, repoint the chimney, and care for the ornate eave trim on the theater.

Staff Picks: What We Can't Wait to See
"What better blockbuster to see on the big screen than the sequel that solidified Star Wars as a cultural phenomenon? I can't wait to sit back with popcorn and a drink and pretend I'm witnessing one of the most iconic plot twists ever for the first time."
—Gabe Napoleon, Marketing & Communications Manager

"We discovered Jesse Cook while visiting relatives in Ontario, Canada in the late 1990s and couldn't purchase his second album, Gravity, fast enough. We have been ardent fans ever since and are thrilled that he will be on the Mahaiwe stage! Jesse is such a remarkable and gifted flamenco guitarist that, when I close my eyes, I am once again sitting with my father and sister listening to flamenco music that our dad brought back from Madrid. Please don't miss this opportunity to see Jesse Cook; you will be delighted and enthralled by the music and musicians." —Kathleen Richards, Executive Associate

"When I heard that Sutton Foster will be coming to the Mahaiwe, I quite literally squealed with excitement. Being able to see this Broadway powerhouse onstage at the Mahaiwe will surely be an unforgettable experience! This will be my first time seeing Sutton Foster perform live, though I am very familiar (as is my car's Bluetooth) with her Broadway recordings of Little Women, Shrek: the Musical, and Thoroughly Modern Millie." —Brenna Hull, Advancement Manager

Universal Participation Expert Users Group
At the end of last year, Mahaiwe received two grants from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation's Arts Builds Community Initiative Fund and the Massachusetts Cultural Council's Universal Participation Innovation Fund to form a Universal Participation Expert Users Group
These funds have helped form an advisory group of individuals with disabilities and caretakers, to study and implement best accessibility experiences at the theater. The Mahaiwe is partnering with Community Access to the Arts (CATA) in the initiative. Contact 413-644-9040 or info@mahaiwe.org to learn more.
Scott Eyerly... abroad!
A familiar face to Mahaiwe regulars, Scott Eyerly has a show premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival next month! The 1-woman comic opera My Life Online features rising English soprano Sarah Minns.
