The Department of Pathology and Immunology has formalized our DEI program by naming Justavian Tillman, EdD as Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Programs, and Lauri Thienes as Associate Director, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. 

The American Public Health Laboratories (APHL), in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), launched a collaboration with external subject matter experts (SMEs) to recruit, train, develop, and retain a diverse US laboratory workforce. Based on their expertise and field experience, SMEs share insights and develop resources to help meet program milestones and goals.

Dr. Messias is one of two co-leads for the workgroup on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging (DEIAB). She will provide expertise in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging to the Career Pathways in Public Health Laboratory Science program, which gives students an opportunity to learn about the public health laboratory profession and have meaningful experiences in state, local, and territorial public health laboratories.“

Our 2024 graduates celebrated a year of accomplishments at our annual End of Year Dinner. Thanks to the Pathology & Immunology Office of Education for organizing a wonderful event. Congratulations again to all our graduates.
