HCH2020 Award Nominations Due March 1!

Winners Will Receive Free Registration and Assistance to Attend

We need your help to honor outstanding consumers, respite providers, clinicians, and administrators with awards at our 2020 National Health Care for the Homeless Conference & Policy Symposium! Winners will receive free primary conference registration, travel reimbursement, and meal per diems to accept one of four awards in-person at HCH2020:

Philip W. Brickner National Leadership Award: for mid-to-late career leaders in our field
Karen Rotondo Award for Outstanding Service: for exemplary clinicians
Ellen Dailey Consumer Advocate Award: for outstanding consumers
Willie J. Mackey National Medical Respite Award: for exemplary respite care providers

If you know someone who would qualify for one of these awards, please nominate them! Our call closes soon: all nominations are due by March 1.

Make Consumer Voices Heard: Apply by March 13 for Scholarships to Attend #HCH2020

Encouraging consumer involvement in all aspects of our work, we are offering a number of scholarships to help consumers attend #HCH2020. If you have previously or are now experiencing homelessness and have used services at a Health Care for the Homeless program, please consider applying for a consumer subsidy: these funds will cover your registration, lodging, meals, and some travel expenses.

This is an excellent chance for consumers to learn, network, and build leadership skills to make their voices heard! Apply by March 13, share this opportunity with a consumer you know, or contact us for more information.

Statement: Administration’s FY2021 Proposed Federal Budget Violates Human Rights

The Trump Administration recently released a proposed FY2021 budget with wide-ranging cuts to Medicaid, housing assistance, food programs, and other vital services to people without homes. In the words of our CEO Bobby Watts, “People living on the street struggle mightily to survive, and this budget pushes more people into homelessness and then traps them there.” Particularly devastating are the budget's proposed cuts to Medicaid—which insures half of all patients in HCH programs.

New MAT Webinar and Peer Mentoring Program Opportunities for Health Centers

The HRSA Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Technical Assistance (COE for BHTA) invites health centers to join a free webinar on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) from 1-4 p.m. CT on Feb. 27. Join Aaron Williams from the National Council for Behavioral Health for an introduction to the MAT Implementation Checklist and listen as Rhonda Hauff and Dr. Jocelyn Pedrosa detail how Yakima Neighborhood Health Services built and refined their MAT services.

HRSA-funded health centers also are welcome to join the COE for BHTA's new peer mentoring program on behavioral health integration. Peer organizations will support mentees in learning and implementing best and promising practices in integrated behavioral health, as well as developing leadership, communication, and coaching skills. Apply by Feb. 24 to take part as a mentee; the program will begin in March and continue through June 30.
