Food carts at Millar Library will remain open |
The Millar Library Food Cart Pod at Portland State University will remain open, thanks to collaboration with the City of Portland. Initially set to close in July due to new wastewater disposal regulations, PSU Facilities and Property Management found a cost-effective solution with the city's help. Construction will begin this summer to install a new grease interceptor system, ensuring compliance with city regulations. To cover maintenance costs, the food cart owners have agreed to a rent increase. This decision came after significant feedback from the community, showing just how important the food carts are to the campus community.

Strategic Planning feedback needed from employees |
Next week, Portland State faculty and staff will have the opportunity to view and provide feedback on the draft 2030 Vision document developed during the strategic planning process. You will be asked to evaluate the vision statements and weigh in on proposed milestones for PSU to work toward a shared vision. In addition to a feedback form, key academic leaders will engage with their teams to identify the most critical drivers of success and what might be missing.
At the May 15 Administrative Briefing, Vice President of Public Affairs Sheila Martin announced that the timeline for the completion of PSU’s Strategic Plan had been pushed back to early Fall 2024 in order to give faculty and staff more time to engage with the process. It will now be presented to the Board of Trustees at their Oct. 4 meeting.

Inside Portland State: A hero on and off the pitch |
Most Viking athletes spend their off-season training and preparing for Division I competition. However, Viking soccer player Cameron Dixon spent the summer before her senior year saving her mother's life. Dixon's mother was suffering from polycystic disease and needed a liver transplant. When Dixon learned she was a donor match, she postponed her senior season to donate part of her liver. "Her life was far more important than soccer," Dixon wrote in an NCAA Women’s Soccer blog.
