UP Students Eligible to share in $1.3M in Financial Assistance
Thanks to the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), University of Portland has $1,336,002 earmarked for financial assistance to be distributed directly to students. All matriculated UP students who are US citizens are eligible to receive CRRSAA funds. Eligible students with “higher financial need”—those students whose FAFSA-calculated expected family contribution places them in the two highest quintiles for financial need—will receive a grant award of $532.28. All other eligible students who apply will receive the standard award of $266.14. Note that this payment is not considered financial aid and will not affect any student’s current or future eligibility for financial aid or other assistance. Apply at https://up.edu/covidrelief by March 31, 2021.
a new approach to the on-campus housing process
The housing process for next fall looks a little different this year. Students currently living off-campus will be given equal priority with current on-campus students in an effort to level the field for students who weren't able to live in the residence halls this year. Students should apply by March 8 to be included in the housing lottery.
Active Minds UP helping students Overcome Barriers to Care

Frontline Workers in Higher education eligible for Vaccines by May 1
Oregon governor Kate Brown announced updated Phase 1B vaccination grouping eligibility on February 26. Under these new guidelines frontline workers, including those in higher education, will be eligible for the COVID vaccine no later than May 1. A frontline worker is someone who has a job that puts the individual at higher risk for contracting COVID-19 because of:
Regular close contact with others outside of their household (less than six feet);
Routine (more than 15 minutes per person(s)) close contact with others outside of their household; and
Inability to perform their job duties from home or another setting that limits the close or routine contact with others outside of their household.
