UACS Programming

OurSpace Sexual Health Education Program

OurSpace's Sexual Health Education Program works to provide queer-inclusive and comprehensive sexual health education. The program starts with high school students and Penn undergraduates receiving sexual health education through workshops and lessons. After, both groups of students will work together to develop their own lessons and activities to teach queer-inclusive and comprehensive sexual health education to high school students across Gender-Sexuality Alliances (GSAs) in West Philadelphia.

City Councilmembers and other city officials joined residents outside a Northwest Philadelphia store to highlight the next steps in the Neighborhood Preservation Initiative, a $400 Million plan for massive, citywide investments in affordable housing production, home repairs, small business revitalization, and neighborhood preservation.

School District of Philadelphia Updates
The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia and Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc. announced an update on Bimbo Bakeries USA’s $75,000 commitment to help the School District of Philadelphia advance its Culinary and Baking and Pastry Arts Programs. Through this funding, the District has awarded scholarships to ten students pursuing culinary and baking careers, provided a four-week summer culinary job training program and provided enhancements to the Career and Technical Education learning environments.

UACS Afterschool Programming Sign-Up

UACS programming will start Oct. 4th, Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm, available for 2nd to 8th graders.

COVID-19 Vaccine Event 

The School District, in collaboration with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, invites all members of the community age 12 and older to a COVID-19 vaccine event on Saturday, September 25 from 10am to 3pm at High School of the Future located at 4021 Parkside Ave. The second dose will be provided on Saturday, October 16th from 10am to 3pm at the same location.
While this event is open to the public, our guests of honor will be students who are dual enrolled or participate in athletics or performing arts. If you are a student who is dual enrolled or are a member of a sports or performing arts program, we hope to see you there.
Register for your appointment at this event by calling or texting the word 'READY' to 267-328-5378 or by visiting CHOPVax.chop.edu. A parent or guardian must be available in person or by phone to provide verbal consent for those 12-17 years old seeking a vaccine.

Vaccine Outreach Field Coordinator (Family Medicine and Community Health)

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health GoVax Philly Field Coordinator will support a community-based vaccine program to build the public health workforce and increase vaccine equity. The GoVax Philly Program is building a cohort of vaccine canvassers to conduct door-to-door outreach in West and Southwest Philadelphia, providing vaccine education, scheduling, and coordination for local residents. The Field Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the canvassing program, including managing canvasser schedules, troubleshooting canvasser issues, supporting canvasser training/education, as well as contributing to the development of the overall strategy for the program. Vaccine Field Canvasser (Family Medicine and Community Health)

The GoVax Philly Vaccine Canvasser will conduct door-to-door outreach among residents of West and Southwest Philadelphia, engaging them in conversations regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. The Vaccine Canvasser will be responsible for providing education, dispelling myths, and coordinating vaccine appointments for residents. The Vaccine Canvasser will also be responsible for participating in ongoing education/training opportunities provided by the project team, in order to remain up to date on the latest vaccine research and policy.
