Summer 2022
In the coming weeks you'll receive a calendar with all the summer opportunities at Parkway Hills, but first let's cover youth events so you can get them on your calendars. We have some events which will reoccure at a regular pattern to make things simple, with room for some special events as well.
Summer ENGAGE Wednesdays (SEW), June 1, 15, and 29; July 13 and 27: ENGAGE shifts to Wednesday for the summer to take advantage of summer days away from school. We'll spend afternoons and evenings together serving our community and having fun around town. For those who were with us last summer, this will be similar to the Staycation Week events but will be held after lunch instead of breaking up in the middle of the day. Every other Wednesday in the summer.
Sunday Kickbacks, 5:30-7pm on June 5 and 19, July 17 (alternating Sundays on weeks without SEW): School is *a lot*. Summer extracurriculars are *a lot*; let's get together and relax! These events will be a chance to hang out in the youth suite with minimal structure. We'll share a meal, play group and unstructured games, and listen to a quick devotion from one of our students.
Special Events:
Geyser Falls Trip, July 23: By popular demand, we're headed back!
"Can't Wait Till Christmas" Back to School Party, July 31: This growing annual tradition falls on the last of our alternating Sunday evenings as we say goodbye to summer and pretend it isn't 100 degrees outside.
Ways for adults to be involved
-Driving/chaperoning SEW events
-Providing dinner and/or volunteering with Sunday Kickbacks; volunteering for the Christmas Party on July 31. Per our Safe Sanctuaries policy, we need at least one female volunteer but all are welcome to serve with us upon completing a background check.
-Driving/chaperoning the Geyser Falls trip
-Hosting the youth, June 11. We'd love to have a fun day together at a lake or around a pool; if you have access and would like to host us please let Geoff know.
