Dear Parents and Families,
The following message has been sent to all students this afternoon. We know that you have many questions related to campus climate, support, resources, and more. To provide answers to those questions, we have developed a list of frequently asked questions that we encourage you to review.
All the best,
The Student Life Team
Dear AS&E students,
As we approach the end of the semester and finals period, our focus for the remainder of the semester is to ensure that our students have an environment on campus that is conducive to learning and that they are supported in every way possible to complete their final course requirements for the semester. All of our teams are working together to provide help in various ways that are listed on the Undergraduate Student Resources and Graduate Student Resources websites.
We recognize that world events have an impact on our daily lives and those on our campus are no different. We acknowledge that the stress of the ongoing conflict and tragedy in Gaza and Israel is taking a toll on our community. In an environment as diverse as Tufts, there will be myriad views and passionate beliefs that community members hold. On occasion, community members will advocate for those views and demonstrate in support of them.
The strength of the Tufts community comes from the diversity of our backgrounds and perspectives. We must remember that there are often diverse perspectives within any group and that many may desire to not discuss an opinion on something. It is incumbent on all of us to treat each other with the respect and dignity that we expect ourselves, even – especially – when we disagree.
In order to maintain an inclusive atmosphere for all community members, it is important that we do not engage in activities that disrupt the work of other students, faculty, or staff. The end of semester is a generally stressful time when you and your fellow students are all working to complete papers, projects and assignments, and/or get ready for finals. One primary purpose of being a part of an academic institution is to further your education. You and your peers deserve a disruption-free environment to do so, and we will work to maintain such an environment by continuing to provide support and enforcing appropriate conduct policies.
We remain committed to partnering with student leaders to ensure and promote the university’s values and standards of inclusivity, personal and academic integrity, and active citizenship. We wish you all well for the remaining few days of the fall semester, all success in your finals and final assignments, and a restful holiday season.
