We are pleased to announce that Caryn Grabowski, M.S., CCC-SLP, BCS-S, director of Clinical Education and clinical assistant professor of Speech-Language Pathology, has been appointed Director of Experiential Learning after a competitive search process. Professor Grabowski will continue as a faculty member in the School of Health and Medical Sciences where her work is focused on developing effective methods for clinical education in alignment with program curriculum while providing mentorship and coaching to students during their clinical training. Professor Grabowski brings significant experience with experiential learning from her educational background and from her work at SHMS. In this position, she will lead the expansion, improvement and promotion of experiential learning opportunities across the University. Congratulations and welcome, Caryn!

Additionally, the Office of the Provost is seeking to staff the position of director of the Center for Catholic Studies. The review of applications by the search committee – composed of Nancy Enright, Ph.D., Anthony Sciglitano, Ph.D., Bryan Pilkington, Ph.D., and Monsignor Gerard McCarren, S.T.D. with John Buschman, D.L.S. as ex officio – will begin on May 1, 2023. Part of the Provost's Office Impact Talks series, rector of LUISS University Andrea Prencipe and the Institute of International Education's Sarah Ilchman will discuss trends in international education and its resurgence post-COVID. Prencipe will offer the perspective of an institution that has been at the forefront of international education since its founding and highlight recent and innovative multi-country degrees offered by LUISS in partnership with universities around the word. Ilchman will discuss the role that its many programs have had in bringing people together and bridging multicultural understanding, peace, diplomacy and global development. Civilizational Prospects Roundtable
On Friday, April 21, attend our round table discussion "Civilizational Prospects: Engaging 'Wicked Problems'" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bishop Dougherty University Center, Meeting Room 206. This forum will examine civilizational prospects from four intersecting perspectives: evolutionary science, theology, global studies and future studies.

Reminder: The faculty member’s department chairperson should be notified by the faculty of their intent to join these workshops so that they can start working together in developing a new Faculty Led Program. Faculty do not need to join these workshops in order to submit a New Program Proposal, but these sessions can be helpful in providing resources as a new study abroad idea gets shaped.

Apply for The Mission Mentors Program, 2023-24
The Provost's Office, Mission and Ministry, Board Affairs and University Strategy, and other university centers and committees are announcing the third Mission Mentors Program. This program aims to promote faculty development in the Catholic intellectual tradition and the Catholic Mission of the university through a peer mentoring model. Together, faculty mentors and peers will develop a project that integrates innovative elements of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition into research, teaching activities, and/or experiential/service-learning initiatives. Applications should be submitted as a single PDF document to MissionMentors@shu.edu by 5 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 15.
