To allow additional time for interested students to apply, the application deadline for the Spring Graduate Student Workshop has been extended to today, January 20, 2026.

On March 6, 2026, NYU Migration Network is hosting the Spring Graduate Student Workshop. This daylong event is designed to allow NYU graduate students and recent graduates to connect with one another, learn about each other’s work, and receive mentorship/guidance in professional development from faculty. Students who have participated in the past workshops have said that it was one of the most helpful and generative academic experiences they have had at NYU.

NYU Migration Network January Speaker Series

The Migration Network also invites you to the January speaker series on January 28 from 12:00-2:00pm. These brown bag lunches bring Migration Network faculty in to present on their current work to other members of the network and NYU students. Our first meeting of the semester features Isabella Trombetta and Ellen Noonan presenting with project colleagues, Sibylle Fischer and Bryan Zehngut-Willits.

NYU Migration Network Spotlight

The NYU Migration Network is spotlighting new publications on migration by NYU faculty. We will feature a new interview every month with an NYU author about their recent book.

This month, we are excited to feature Professor Dale Hudson and Professor Alia Yunis' book:

Reorienting the Middle Film and Digital Media Where the Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean Meet (Indiana University Press, 2024).

Tenement Talk: Preparing for the Immigration Journey

Join Glucksman Ireland House NYU Director Kevin Kenny in conversation with co-editor Maddalena Marinari at the Tenement Museum. In their new book, Rituals of Migration: Italians and Irish on the Move, historians Kevin Kenny and Maddalena Marinari explore Irish and Italian traditions when leaving their homeland and arriving in the United States. What objects did people bring for protection? How did those left behind mark the occasion of a loved one leaving for the United States? What did people do if they returned to their home country? Join Kenny and Marinari for a panel conversation on the book and its importance for immigration history.
