OCAq Receives Accreditation Quarter Century Award |

This award recognizes 25 years of continuous accreditation and acknowledges our ongoing dedication to AZA standards and policies, in addition to modern zoological practices and philosophies – the hallmarks of AZA accreditation.

Partnering with Big Fish Lab on Shark Research Efforts |
The Oregon Coast Aquarium partners with Oregon State University’s Big Fish Lab to study sharks, focusing on their movements, behaviors and population dynamics. Recently the team voyaged to Washington’s Willapa Bay. The mission: tag and collect samples from broadnose sevengills.

September 20, the Oregon Coast Aquarium is hosting a clean-up spanning from the start of SW Jetty Way to the beach! The event will run from 10am-12pm; we ask that participants arrive no later than 10:30am. Participants can stay for any duration and can choose to clean up any length of the 1-mile paved/gravel road or walk 1/4 mile to the beach.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own gloves; collection bags will be provided.

| Common Murre Chick Practices for the Plunge |
M93 is practicing for the next plunge! This common murre chick hatched last month, and has been leaving the murre nest ledge for short excursions before being shuffled back by Mom and Dad. These wing flaps and practice jumps are telltale signs that the chick will soon start spending more and more time with the rest of the flock in the Aviary pool below!
