February 2017
Dear PSA Members
PSA started in 1925 to provide member artists a place to exhibit. The purpose of PSA has been further established in our Bylaws that read, “ to cultivate and promote art education and appreciation of exhibitions, lectures, and other art activities…”
Let’s start planning our 100th Birthday, March 4, 2025 with the following objectives:
#1 – that we have our own PSA Gallery for our 100th Annual Juried Exhibition, and
#2 that we activate our purpose more distinctively.
Would you join me in a new PSA vision, beyond our current exhibitions and activities? Just how can we create a master plan? What steps do we need as individual artists, and as a team? Dreaming aside, we need money and space, groups of artists working together to make a difference. You've read in previous messages about artists being “community leaders” through art. Living in this “most interesting of times”, I believe that our fine art satisfies our hearts, and our bank accounts, but art can inspire our community’s well being. Whatever we do as a group can help us individually as well. PSA can partner with civic organizations, identify local governmental support and develop “progressive” space in Pasadena”. A place to start would be a shared vision.
Bylaws Revision - We need to update our 1997 Bylaws. Several years ago, our Bylaws Committee spent many hours on the revision, which we need to complete. Larry Rodgers, Don Cook, Robert Crook are on the Committee. I invite one or two other PSA Members to join is this effort. If you’re interested, let me know. If you've had prior experience with writing or amending Bylaws that would be even better help.
Salons - Would someone like to plan our Salons? Let me know if you would like to.
I look forward to seeing you February 4th,
Victor Picou, PSA President
