Come help prepare garden beds, plant seeds, mulch, weed,
and harvest!
Yarmouth Community Garden has 2 acres, 135 rental plots & a big food donation garden! They grow, harvest and donate over 4000 lbs of organic vegetables each year. They support local food pantries, senior citizens, meals on wheels & support Maine Harvest for Hunger.

Email Denise Compton to volunteer at Yarmouth Community Garden!
Volunteer with the Free Garden Project!

Maine Foodscapes' Free Garden Project is offering free gardens, seeds, plant starts, cover crop mix, access to our gardening and cooking workshop series, and facilitating connections between new gardeners and the greater gardening community.

The primary goal of this project is to partner with food-insecure households in order to increase accessibility to sufficient, safe, and nutritious foods. Our work is a creative approach to building food security. We put the power of growing food into the hands of community members themselves.
Volunteering with Preble Street
The mission of Preble Street is to provide accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty, and to advocate for solutions to these problems.
Feed your hungry neighbors! Help serve any of 3 meals a day, 7 days a week at the Preble Street Resource Center Soup Kitchen. Volunteers assist with breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or at the weekly Thursday Food Pantry.
Partners for World Health

Partners for World Health collects medical supplies that healthcare facilities in the U.S. are required to discard and ship them to countries in need. In addition, they also organize medical missions to Southeast Asia and Africa for doctors, nurses, and students. Here is a list of some of their needs:
Macrosorting - opening bags and boxes and sorting items into general category bins
Microsorting - further sorting general category bins into bins of more restrictive categories
Counting, bagging, and labeling similar items
Transferring like liquids to create full containers
Creating kits of supplies (respiratory kits, surgical kits, birthing kits, etc.)
Packing, sealing and labeling boxes for shipment
Produce Distributions
with the Locker Project

Presumpscot Elementary School
Wednesday, June 5th, 4:00 - 5:30 pm

The Locker Project manages food pantries in schools, providing food for children who are food-insecure to take food home with them. Join the Locker Project in December to help distribute fresh produce and non-perishable food items.

Volunteers help arrange produce and groceries on tables, then assist students and parents with bagging the food up to take home. You will be a welcoming presence, making sure people know they are invited to take food. Everyone is invited to bring food home with them. This a great way to de-stigmatize free food distributions, particularly in the case of fresh food that would otherwise get wasted.

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program
Brunswick, ME

Hungry neighbors in our community need your help to feed their families! Mid Coast Hunger Prevention has a number of initiatives that work to address food insecurity and volunteers place a vital role in fulfilling their mission by preparing meals, distributing groceries, picking up donated food and a variety of other tasks.

This month, MCHPP could use volunteers to help pickup donations, and afternoon volunteers for the food bank & food pantry. They're biggest needs are on Tuesdays and Saturdays this month.
