With the warmer weather finally here, find a new opportunity to get involved outside! Sign up to volunteer directly with Garbage to Garden or one of our community partners:
To sign up for an event this month and receive a month of free Garbage to Garden service, RSVP by email and we will help answer any questions you may have. Then simply send confirmation of your volunteer hours to volunteer@garbagetogarden.org to receive credit.

GtG Seedling Sale!
Each Saturday in May, we welcome folks to our Windham farm to pick up their pre-ordered seedlings from 9am to 1pm. Orders will be picked and packed in advance, but we could use some extra hands day of to grab orders in the greenhouse & load into vehicles.
Saturdays 5/13, 5/20 and 5/27
Early shift: 9am-11am Later shift: 11am-1pm
Please try to arrive 10 minutes before your shift. This task requires bending, lifting, and walking on uneven ground while carrying a tray full of seedlings (which can be on the heavy side). We will be outside under a tent, and you will be in and out of the greenhouse where temperatures can be in the 90s.

Taking Root Plant Sale
Each year the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust’s Tom Settlemire Community Garden (TSCG) hosts a plant sale thanks to the effort of dozens of volunteers. It’s not just about the plants you’ll find – it’s a wonderful day of celebration and meeting your community of local gardeners. Come join us!

Help fill Compost Bags!
Compost bagging happens weekly on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at our shop in Portland (as long as it is not raining). Come lend a hand for ~1.5 hours in exchange for one month of free service! Arrive anytime 9am-11am. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty!

Woodfords Corner Farmers Market
Friends of Woodfords Corner is seeking volunteers for a new market in town! Help set-up, break-down, and run the market, which will be held Thursday afternoons from 3pm - 7pm from the first week in June through the first week in October (after Labor Day, market hours will be 2 - 7 pm).
Shifts: 2pm - 5pm, 5pm - 8pm

First Baptist Church of Portland Food Pantry
The FBC food pantry serves hundreds of individuals each month by collaborating with local fresh food sources and distributing to families in need. FBC is seeking volunteers to organize/distribute food and/or break down and clean up. They are operating a 'no contact' food pantry for the safety of volunteers and patrons.
Wednesdays: 7:30am - 1:30pm Location: 360 Canco Road, Portland, ME
Volunteers especially needed at 7:30am to help set up tables and unload Whole Food donations – even if for just one hour!

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program
Hungry neighbors in our community need your help to feed their families! Mid Coast Hunger Prevention has several initiatives that work to address food insecurity, and volunteers play a vital role in fulfilling their mission by preparing meals, distributing groceries, picking up donated food, and a variety of other tasks.
This month, MCHPP is looking for drivers to help with retail pick-ups from local grocery stores. Volunteers must have a clean driving record and lift up to 30 pounds independently. Shifts are mornings, Monday through Saturday. If interested contact Heather at volunteer@mchpp.org or 725-2716 x305.

Maine Immigrant Rights Coalition
MIRC is currently looking for volunteers to help with their Culturally-Appropriate Food Program supporting homeless asylum seekers at the motels. Volunteers help with packaging hot meals 6 days a week:
Monday-Friday from 4:15pm-6:15pm
Saturday from 3pm-5pm
