Professionalism Module for OT Student Orientation |
As the Fall semester approaches, we wanted to highlight a fun summer collaboration we did with ‘25 occupational therapy graduate, Amy Arellano. We learned about her work on developing a professionalism curriculum for the Occupational Therapy program during Research Day and thought it sounded like a perfect addition to the online student orientation.
We worked closely with Amy to convert her in-person lessons to an online-asynchronous format. The module contains knowledge checks, sorting activities, role-playing scenarios, and audio narration recorded by Amy. We’re really proud of the way it came out and encourage you to take a few minutes to check it out!

At IMPACT, we’re often asked about the university’s policy on taking photos of events and class activities, how to collect photo releases, and where to store them. The answer is - it depends. Factors such as how the image will be used, whether or not the person in the photograph is identifiable, and whether there is an expectation of privacy can impact this answer.
The GW Privacy Office hosts a comprehensive training on this topic, and they are running a session via Zoom on September 25th. Visit their website to register.
If you have an upcoming event to photograph, GW Marketing and Communications has a new custom photo/video release creator tool that pre-populates the form with your event details and copies event planners on form submissions.

Himmelfarb Resource: Case Files Collection |
The Himmelfarb Library has a collection of case files to facilitate diagnostics and decision making in basic sciences and medical specialties. According to the Himmelfarb website, “Patient cases help learners work through diagnostic considerations and testing/treatment decisions, in preparation for clinical rotations.”
Access the Case Files Collection
If the Case File Collection doesn’t have any cases related to your area of Health Sciences, consider using one of GW’s approved AI tools to create one of your own (hint: they have more than just Copilot). Include the learning objectives or competencies in your prompt, so the case goes beyond surface level. Remember to always review the AI outputs for accuracy.
